It's nothing of the sort. And I seriously doubt that after this, CBS/P+ will ever want to do anything with Section 31 or Georgiou again.
Oh it absolutely is.

Go read some interviews to find out why it wasn't a series first, but it's definitely in the burner as a series.

I liked the Section 31 movie, but if Paramount wanted to make this a series they already would've done it. Just look at them filming the Starfleet Academy show that literally no one asked for these days. The talk about them providing a S31 series if people demand it is just that, talk. After all, people demanded a Star Trek Legacy series and we aren't getting that.

Alok: Sloan, we only used this virus in lab simulations. If you try it on the Founders, it might not kill them.

Sloan: We will test it... on Quasi.

There seems to be some minor hype online in putting (minor spoilers)
Jamie Lee Curtis in this but overall her appearance is meaningless to Trek fans. Her role would better have been served by Shazad Latif reprising Ash, since his last appearance indicated Ash would lead Section 31 down a more peaceful path and considering this movie shows them as a (relatively) benign spy group instead of the genocidal terrorists they were in Discovery and DS9, he should've showed up as the explanation for that. And since Ash is biologically a Klingon, he could still be alive and they could've just put Shazad in some mild aging makeup

Maybe it's just coincidence but the out of phase fight seemed to be ripping off the new Dune movie a fair bit. The sound effects in particular were identical.

I don't need to read interviews, I am quite aware of the history. But apparently you aren't.
Oh I am. But all you really need to do is see what the producers are saying. They've clearly stated they'll make more if it does well. But it was known to be a backdoor pilot for 2 years. Apparently you didn't.

I heard Trek also stole Gurney Halleck from the 1984 adaptation and Jamis from the 2020s adaptations. They apparently just can't stop stealing from Dune. ;)

"Hello Phillipa this is Control can you hear me"

That's the key. Please show me how CBS/P+ measures 'well.'

No, the idea was that five years ago, they wanted to make a Section 31 series with Yeoh. Then Covid hit and put all those plans on the back burner. Then later they instead decided to focus on SNW while at the same time scrambling to produce a one-off movie as self-indulgent vehicle for Yeoh. Now their focus is on more SNW and the new SFA series. S31 movie has about as much chance of being a 'backdoor pilot' as the final scene of PIC season 3 has as a 'backdoor pilot' for Matalas's pipe dream Legacy.

You are just 100% wrong.
It was conceived a few years ago as a series and cut down to a movie. Everyone here except you knows this so please just accept it.

I don't think Paramount is going to greenlight any additional Trek stuff until the Skydance deal is completely finished. They will undoubtedly have their own plans for how to use Trek in the future. Not saying that will be "fire Kurtzman" - but they will probably give notes quite different from what Paramount has to date.

To be fair the directors have been going around recently saying stuff like "there will be more if people watch" in articles like https://trekmovie.com/2024/12/31/di...-can-lead-to-more-streaming-star-trek-movies/ with the director saying "Hopefully the fans love Section 31 and love this format, and we’re able to continue this format with other stories and be able to expand the universe so much faster"

So you don't need to attack the poster, I agree with you this will never be a series but people who don't realize that Hollywood directors lie all the time may not know this.
