I'm looking forward to it as its own thing. I'm not expecting it to be "Inquisition" or "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges". I'll either end up thinking it's good in its own way or it'll be a guilty pleasure. It's going to be one of those two. I won't be sure where I'll land until I see it. All I can tell is, I won't think it's dull.

If I end up thinking it's a guilty pleasure, then I won't be able to justify to myself getting into long drawn-out arguments about it. Likewise, depending on what happens in it, I'm only going to look at what happens in the TV Movie and in the context of the TV Movie alone. To do otherwise will invite a rabbit hole that'll never end. That's what every discussion about Section 31 has told me, since 1998.

Instead, I'll save the energy for arguments about Tuvix. ;)

They should have just sent her back to the mirror universe and tell a story about her trying to reclaim the throne from Spock who I guess would in charge at this point in time.

Well I think it looks fun. I will leave my brain in a jar and enjoy it for what it is.
Just make sure you get the right one back.

There's a Cheron in the trailer. That's.. interesting.

Now nothing precludes more members of the species escaping the planet before the apocalypse. If Bele and Lokai were able to leave the planet, why not others?

They'd just have to be laying low at the time of LTBYLB so Kirk and Crew at least wouldn't know about it.

That could be interesting, but it looks to me like this is a Michelle Yeoh project first and a Star Trek movie a distant second. So that's how I'm looking at it.

It's even in the font with how much more prominent the Section 31 is than the Star Trek. ;)

To be honest, I'm more interested in what Michelle Yeoh fans will think of this.

I didn't even make it through the entire trailer. I'm out.

I have to admit, it took me two tries to get through it. I reflexively clicked off at the ‘we are facing a threat unlike like anything Starfleet has ever seen’, ‘billions of lives are at stake’ lines. Then I remembered it's technically Star Trek, so I rewatched and got through it. I suspect it'll be much the same with the movie itself, something to get through rather than enjoy.

Ever the optimist.

A very fair point. I'm thinking that they're hoping for "hey, did you know the hit sci-fi action movie Section 31 is set in the same universe as those dinky Star Trek shows?" to be a conversation people have. Whether that actually happens is... to be seen.

Thoughts and prayers for you along this journey

"Hey ... I know I'm not going to like this show, but I'm going to watch it anyway, just so I can bitch & moan about it for the rest of my life..."

Take it from someone who has been hanging around for over 66 years now, LIFE is way too short to waste any of that precious time here by living with this kind of attitude.
Go seek out the things you know you'll enjoy, you'll be much happier in the long run.

I've stopped watching four Star Trek series during first-run. Two during the Berman Era, two during the Kurtzman Era. Once you stop the first time, it becomes easier to stop afterwards. As soon as anything becomes "something to get through", that's when I know it's time to stop or time to skip it.

There are plenty of things I have to do IRL that I don't want to do. This is just me, but I don't want something that's supposed to be entertainment to become "something I have to do" as well.

Whenever I see someone who says, "I have to watch it all!", I've been telling them for years, "No, you don't!"
