Definitely a better trailer than the last one. I remain cautiously optimistic.

Of course I also went through the trailer in slow motion to see if I could spot any Lost Era Federation Starships....

At this point I’ll be happy if they actually give a valid reason why the movie takes place in the 2330’s. Because right now it looks just like any other era of CBSTrek.

I mean, it's as good an era as any other? And it gives them at least a little bit of runway to play with without much risk of bumping into the almighty canon.

That depends on what good a job they do with recreating that era's established monster maroon uniforms, LCARS displays and 2330s-era Starfleet designs.

I guess Bele and Lokai weren't really the last. In terms of aliens, this is almost like a best-of TOS line up and I'm definitely here for it.

An unexplored era is just fine by me.

It looks fun, but very generic. I think that's deliberate, they know the Trekkies will see this but they're trying to get the casuals watching who just want to see Michelle Yeoh kick ass.

If I'm being honest, none of the trailers so far have done it for me on Section 31. I won't write this off entirely until I actually see it, but it's ranking a solid "meh" overall.

I get more the sense of the franchise chasing after other franchises (DCEU, MCU) rather than trying to be something new, which I'm not enthused over.

I guess we'll see next month.

Trailers are always generic.

The plot nuggets I'm picking up on seem to be a great tie in Georgiou and her past, as well as the fact that she doesn't want to be a power player anymore.

From a character perspective it seems quite interesting.

That sounds a lot like more "supership destroying the multiverse with power of mushrooms"/"S31 AI Control destroying all life in the galaxy"/"robot tentacle monsters destroying all non-androids"- garbage from the very early, very very bad beginning of the streaming Trek era...
