This show doesn’t seem to be one for recasting. Especially if they can track down the original actor and they’re willing . Not sure how the “mothballs” comment could imply recasting.

I like how we're exactly 50-50 on if this movie is a good idea.

It's within the margin of error.
I'm more interested in getting a look into the Lost Era than I am at seeing Section 31.
That's certainly what grabbed my attention.
Will we continue to call it a lost era if it gets fleshed out and is no longer lost?
It'll be the recently found era. The new lost era will be between Star Trek's V and VI.
Actually, the other Lost Era would be between Edison/USS Franklin, and The Cage.
Definitely my preferred lost era, and barely a tale spun about it so far..

I certainly think you could make a longer form of this concept. By it a real mini series or a series itself,
The only reason I wouldn't want a full series (perfectly ok with miniseries idea) is because it's generally a concept that I think hasn't been done well in Trek, even at its best (I liked one and only episode where Section 31 is key aspect to the story). Thus not excited over it. Now show me you can do it, and do it well. Then that might be another story.
That outfit is... interesting. I really have no idea what the tone of this movie is meant to be.
