Why do you care so much about what we think? If you don’t like it, fine. Don’t watch it. I’m not expecting the Section 31 movie to be all that great either, but I don’t feel the need to broadcast that opinion with every post I make.
Gatekeeper Alert…

It's pretty self-evident why Star Trek fans want Star Trek to be as good as anything else that's on. We don't enjoy it ironically.
Yes, but Star Trek has always lagged behind both in terms of audiences and other major franchises, and unfortunately will continue to do so.

Lagged behind in what way?
Unfortunately, it has never been a Star Wars or a Marvel in terms of mass and popularity. In my opinion, they spend 1/10 of the exaggerated budgets spent on Star Wars TV series. It is said that Disney spent 290 million dollars on Andor's second season. Star Trek TV series probably have a seasonal budget between 70 and 120 million dollars.

I'm just willing to be open minded and give Section 31 a fair shot.

I like Michelle Yeoh.

The rest of the cast is a "Who Are they?".

But whatever, I'm happy to see them and see what kind of wacky adventure they go on to save the Universe/Federation.

Did anyone know the cast of previous Trek shows? I didn't know Shatner or Nimoy, Stewart or Spiner. Definitely didn't know Green, or any of Discovery's cast.
Academy seems to be the only one loaded with name actors. The rest had one or two "B" actors you kind of recalled from other shows and movies. "The kid from Stand by Me", "the guy from Spenser", "Mrs Columbo", "Sam from Quantum Leap", Sasha from "Walking Dead", etc.

Direct to Streaming movies are like junk food.

You can never truly appreciate them, knowing that the idea didn’t convince enough people to bring it to the big screen. They are the contemporary counterparts to all the direct to DVD feature films, which also got produced to squeeze out the last drops out of outdated franchises.

We already know that S31 will be a mediocre spin-off of a already cancelled tv show…
In this instance that because she won the Academy Award, her cost and profile were at the point where she didn't have time on her schedule/the cost was too high to feature her in a 10 episode series, but she was interested enough that she could do a film.

And if the film does well enough viewership wise, she'd be up to do a sequel.

So...all you hate watchers should realize your just making a sequel more likely.:rommie:

Well, it's nice to know Star Trek is outdated.

Time to play "Auld Lang Syne," and "Taps."

Just an observation, but it's funny that the biggest nuTrek haters here are also people that never post anything positive in threads about the older shows.

I mean aside from me that is. I'm the biggest Section 31 hater of all! It's killing me inside that I have to admit Garrett's phaser actually looks really good.

I'm not a big fan of Nutrek but I provide feedback as to why I dislike it. And yes the opinion that it "doesn't feel like Star Trek" or not having the traditional Trek formula is a valid viewpoint. I don't necessarily agree with that reasoning ( I like DS9 for example which changed the formula) but it is valid to express that opinion if one feels that way..

To me "a hater" is someone who makes posts like " This sucks!, "if It's Kurtzman crap I won't watch! " and then offer no real insights as to why they feel like that.

Haters lke that exist on the internet or in real life across the board. I don't not think it's just peopke that dislike nutrek

What irritates me is when people that dislike nutrek that give actual reasons are also labeled as "haters" when all they are doing is expressing an opinion or giving feedback.

Maybe we should have a consensus discussion on what a hater actual is. Because it seems people often just use that as a buzz word ..

This is the worst Trek of all time. I can't believe they did this. Go watch it and tell them how bad it is!

That will show them!
