That doesn't make your statement make sense. Carrying him implies Patrick didn't want to do it.

He was physically drained by the end of filming.

The reason Picard is ending after S3 is that Sir Patrick isn't physically able to handle working on a weekly series anymore (the man needed a nap in the afternoon).

He also only signed for and agreed to do three seasons.

As for being open to more, I would assume it's the actor gene and him that says Never Say Never.

But yeah everyone needs to remember that they filmed Picard seasons 2 and 3 back to back: and they were even mentioning that for the actors there was a one weekend break. They finished season 2 on a Friday, and were back starting to film season 3 the following Monday.

So in effect for Patrick Stewart, it was pretty much like filming one full season of the old style TNG as they filmed 20 episodes back to back.

I'm sure anyone would be exhausted after a grind such as that.

I get the idea. Its something I think about when I heard that Stewart is open to doing more Trek. Filming S2 and S3 was an abnormal situation. He was signing on thinking that he'd only have to do 10 episodes per season. Not that he was going to do a 20 episode season like he was back on TNG again. if he was going to do a movie, it would be the equivalent of filming 2 or 3 episodes of Trek. And if he were to do another season, he may has well do a movie trilogy as it’s the same amount of hours.

But it also would not bother me if Stewart did voiceover work from this point on either if he still wanted to participate. It seems a lot less strenuous. We have yet to see animated Picard anyways, the fan edit of TNG produced like TAS and the Family Guy takes notwithstanding. I think both LD and PRO would be supportive of cameo appearances.

I'd also understand retirement if that's what he wants to do too.

I wonder with all this talk of
Worf being like Pai Mei and Raffi being on secret assignment whether they might combine Section 31 with the continuation of Picard

It could be a story arc. :shifty:

Well I'd guess Michelle Yeoh just added an extra zero to her asking price.

Someone call Alexander Siddig.
Well...she could be like Whoopi Goldberg too.;)

(I guess time will tell, but remember, she continued with Discovery AFTER Crazy Rich Asians, was a big hit and upped her star power in Hollywood; and the reason she was written off Discovery S3 WAS because they were planning to also do Section 31 <-- Then COVID-19 really hit and threw a huge wrench into the way Hollywood had to run production of anything going forward.)

So Paramount has botched the chance to have a Tarantino Trek film, a film featuring Hemsworth and Pine and now a series starring the latest Best Actress Oscar winner, not to mention the mess they made of Disco's streaming rights.

There will be a lot of "what might have been"s to come out of this era.

They could still have the Tarantino film. Its just controversial to have a Tarantino film for Trek fans . Its not “safe”.

a film featuring Hemsworth and Pine

They could still have the Hemsworth and Pine film. The problem is that a) Paramount don’t want to think outside the box, not include the rest of the Kelvinverse cast, and limit the cast to just Hemsworth and Pine as that’s not “safe” and b) Paramount doesn’t want to spend the money to get an A-lister, yet want a top grossing film like Top Gun: Maverick.

and now a series starring the latest Best Actress Oscar winner,

That hasn’t been officially been botched, as a movie can still be made. Its just looking less likely because Paramount doesn’t want to spend.

not to mention the mess they made of Disco's streaming rights.

Forget streaming rights, you could have stopped at “the mess they made of Disco”

There will be a lot of "what might have been"s to come out of this era.

And this is just the stuff that’s public knowledge.

Good.

Maybe. Still could call Pine. Hope they do.

Not necessarily since Yeoh could still be called, if they have a project of interest and Paramount is willing to pay. Which, unfortunately, is not as likely as Paramount, like others, are not willing to spend a lot of money right now.

Yeah, I think people forget about Crazy Rich Asians, it was considerably more popular than Everything.

If she wants to do a Trek show she will.

I'm not a fan of the Discofied S31 or the Mirror Georgiou character, but this doesn't exactly scream "Yeoh's too big to do Star Trek":

CRA came out a year after Disco and probably closer to two after she was cast. So this is a red herring argument, anyway.

Winning a high profile Oscar and being in a popular film are not the same. So this is a false equivalency.

Two fallacies in one short post. Good job.

**Also "if she wants to" is highly reductive and a pretty meaningless statement. It's a lot more complicated than that. There are politics to consider. Look how much they had to bend over backwards to fit (financially) Whoopi in. And that was 35 years ago.
