If they're still weeks from finishing, they probably don't have a lot of key VFX done for "All Good Things..." And, of course, any respectable Season Seven trailer should be loaded with finished effects shots from the finale!

I must say, FrontierTrek is right, Deep Space Nine (both inside and out) looks spectacular in HD! And regarding the two visual bloopers that have always been in "Birthright, Part I," CBS Digital fixed one -- in keeping with what they did in "Unification, Part II" with the boom operator -- but left the other! I won't say which (I'm sure TrekCore's coming review will reveal all!). So either they were unaware, or they deliberately decided not to fix it. Oh, well!
Also, perhaps most importantly, they left those, umm... revealing shots... in "Man of the People" very much alone. And, believe me, they also look spectacular in HD!

I hope it's not a lost cause with DS9, because after collecting all the Seasons of TNG (minus Season 2), I was really looking forward to collecting all of DS9. I never bought it on VHS. Oh please CBS, give DS9 the same treatment as TNG.
DS9 and VOY are coming in HD, I am sure. Maybe it just has to wait until the process becomes even cheaper and quicker than right now, and it probably will only feature upscaled special effects - and maybe also only for streaming/TV broadcast and not on physical medium (like the X-Files right now).
Now we know who to blame!
I'll definitely pass on paying for a half-assed product. If that's all they plan, then they may as well not do it at all.

Well, it'll be disappointing if it ends with TNG S7. Within a year or so, I was looking forward to DS9 Season Blu ray sets after TNG. Documentaries as good as those on ENT Blu rays. Cast reunion roundtables. DS9 would probably have had to do two of those, the family of characters being so large.
My non-ordinary TV viewing habits, revolve almost entirely around DVD and Blu ray and have downloaded a handful of times from iTunes since its creation and used catchup services like the BBC's iplayer even less.
Once something's no longer current TV, if I loved it so much I prefer owning a physical media version of it, to a list of files on computer. The presentation of discs, and all the design work that goes into them inside and out.

DS9 is my least favoured Trek by quite some margin. I'd be happy to pony up for the full works as it were - but a "half-way measure" just won't cut it for me.

I never got why people thought going from TNG to DS9 would be seamless. TOS to TNG was a three year wait (slightly less if you count the sampler that came out 6 months before TNG S1). I keep seeing people talk about how they'll lose this "dream team" at CBS-D if they don't do another series immediately. I feel like people are acting as if CBS wouldn't be able to find talented people again to handle another HD Trek release unless it happens immediately, which isn't the case at all (not to mention, CBS-D wasn't the only effects house involved in TNG-R).
Do you think there's even a small chance that emails to the brass at CBS might help?

I'm more excited than anything - that one part of the three part documentary, has been given over to DS9 starting up. Maybe I'll find it inconsistent and out of place when I see the whole thing. I doubt it though. These specials have really been a year-by-year look at TV production. Last time dominated by Gene Roddenberry's passing and the effect it had on making Season 5. 1992/3 is the birth of a franchise and two shows going on at once. They've got to get into that. Maybe it's a slight worry they'll end up repeating themselves a bit, if as hoped DS9 receives the Blu ray treatment. But there's no guarantee of such a thing at this stage, I suppose.

In our context, I'd presume sending checks to the brass at CBS Home Entertainment might be the better idea.
I'm afraid that the deteriorating TNG sales figures from season to season didn't actually excite CBS into remastering DS9, yet.
Unless I'm mistaken Season Six is the most popular TNG season, so if I were CBS I'd look at the sales figures of this particular season before I'd make any announcement whether DS9 is coming, too, or not.
Or at some point in time and after all seven seasons have been released CBS will consider a TNG Blu-ray box with all seasons in it. Again, the sales figures for such a box (did too many fans just wait for that?) could give CBS an idea how DS9 would sell in the short (season boxes) and in the long run (complete box).
It's mostly how much profit they can generate or not (to cover for the remastering expenses), not how many people would like to see it, I'm afraid.

We've been told all along that blu-ray sales are just the whipped cream on top of the remastering benefits. Isn't the primary reason to provide HD versions for broadcast and streaming?
If so, then I would think that TNG was worth their while because it's probably still sold to BBC America etc., but is there a market for broadcasting or streaming DS9?

In HD? Possibly. Broadcasters and streamers don't want SD material, so having something in HD is probably much more desirable.
If streaming is a key to all this, then the biggest question mark is how well does Trek in general do on places like Amazon and Netflix? If they're pretty popular, the question CBS needs to ask is: are Netflix/Amazon/Other sites willing to pay more for a license to the streaming material once the agreement for the SD material is up?
Obviously, Amazon thought it was worth it for TNG, but it's more about how popular DS9 and Voyager are on these streaming sites.

Although there is undoubtedly a very vocal and hardcore band of DS9 groupies who believe it to be the untouchable zenith of all Star Trek, I do think there's sometimes a tendency to overestimate DS9's current standing and general popularity amongst the masses. I believe it to be considerably less than TOS and TNG, and unfortunately, probably losing ground as time goes on.
I really, really hope not, but I don't think it's inconceivable CBS may elect to pass on a DS9 HD project.
