Yep, you went on a similar rant a few years back over Rios smoking and drinking, including the tragic relative angle (though it was vaping back then). So I'm gonna have to take all this Sturm and Drang with a grain of salt.I don't drink any alcohol and don't smoke, and I definitely was not happy with the way the character of Rios was used to glamorize both activities on Picard. I'm not happy about it, but smoking and drinking are so ingrained in our culture (unfortunately) that you have Gandalf smoking etc. in LOTR and I just accept that's how it was written back in the 1950s.
That being said, just because a problem exists doesn't mean you need to continue it or, in the case with Pelia casually mentioning using LSD, add to it. Hey it's Paramount's show and they can have their characters say what they want and that's fine, but I don't have to watch it anymore.

fair enough. he started doing the real deal though when he went back in timeRios’s cigar wasn’t real. I have no issue with drugs/alcohol in trek if it synthetic
That might be worse, the hero seems to eat an eye in the teaserI might do a one month thing just to watch S31 movie but other than that...
Great. Another scoop of eye-scream. As if I didn't already have reason enough to avoid the S31 movie. That might be worse, the hero seems to eat an eye in the teaser![]()
There is never an obligation to watch any show, much less Trek.but I don't have to watch it anymore.
Odds are very good they were already experiencing psychosis of some kind. Most cases I have worked with have experienced it as early as 8, and they just thought it was normal, i.e. hearing a voice narrating their life, or asking them questions. As they get older, it can become much worse, especially under stress. The person in question in my experience was older than 25 when it happened by a few years.
I'm definitely planning on staying as far away from any S31 movie or series as I possibly can. If I want to watch something about spies, I'll watch Get Smart, or either one of James Coburn's "Flint" movies (I once answered the question of "who is your favorite Bond" with "James Coburn as Derek Flint").There is never an obligation to watch any show, much less Trek.
No shit! Ditto for ethanol and nicotine for me. And in particular, I've never understood why anybody would spend $40-$400 for a concert ticket, and then attend the concert with even slightly dulled senses. This is not an endorsement of marijuana by me. I personally have no interest in it and find the glorification of its use and culture to be rather strange.
And we're not allowed to discuss the implications?Jesus Christ people this is a one-off drug joke.
Spock of SeagullsNeed a Flock of Seagulls haircut.
It is well established canon that Vulcans have innate heightened emotions, more powerful than human emotions. That part is genetic, yes. And because of their heightened emotions and violent past, they eventually embrace the philosophy of Surak that promotes suppressing emotions and embracing logic. Furthermore, we know that Vulcans spend years of training to learn how to suppress emotions. That part is not genetic. It takes years of training to master. So the crew should suddenly get violent and emotional when they become Vulcan, not suddenly act all stoic and logical, something which takes Vulcans years of training to master.
Yeah, how it works is above our paid grades.Ugh. Ugh, ugh UGH.
Vulcans with no lifelong mental training or discipline would not be acting more Vulcan then Spock.
that is absolutely not how this should work.
Ugh.
i am so convinced that this is un-universe entertainment.
Captain Pike DLC on the rec deck.
Trek has definitely done it before.Yeah, how it works is above our paid grades.
It’s an off shoot of something that made Spock forget all of his Vulcan training. From a species that are way beyond our heroes’ understanding.
Sounds like Star Trek to me.
