Spoilers Season 2 Trailers, Previews, and Promos

Waiting for Young Wells' face full of childhood wonder to convince the Vulcans that Earth is worth swinging by in another 39 years after their initial belief is it's beyond salvation.

The Ready Room has a nice clip from next week's episode. I am really looking forward to it. Looks like we will get more wonderful scenes between Pill and Wersching:

We see Jurati has become more borgified. She looks like a Borg Queen now. The Borg Queen played by Annie Wersching has an interesting conversation with Head-Jurati.

Not sure how I feel about the retcon that the Borg assimilate because the Queen is lonely TBH...

It does kind of fit with what we saw in First Contact where the Borg Queen seemed to be lonely to have Locutus back. And, to be fair, it is Jurati's interpretation of why the Borg assimilate. It might be part of the reason but not the entire reason. I think both could be correct at the same time. Perhaps the Borg Queen is lonely but also the Borg assimilate because of the advantages it provides them in additional manpower, new tech etc...

With 2.8 I'm fully back on board and looking forward to the final 2 of the season. This also looks like the most interesting "Ready Room" clips we've had in several weeks so hopefully that's a good sign.

Well, that's probably the weirdest Trek clip I've seen in a while.

More interesting is the fan response to it. So incredibly interesting.

Don't people WANT the Borg Queen to have character depth? Was loneliness not her motivation for attempting to make Locutus?

Eh. Honestly I don't like the queen in general. I think the Borg were more effective when they were a horrific "force of nature" in episodes like Q Who?, Best of Both Worlds, and Regeneration than any episode with a catty, vampy, personified antagonist.

Stupid fan theorizing mode:
I'm wondering if this has any implications for the origins of the Borg. Did the Queen create the Borg? Was she originally a lonely and isolated scientist much like Jurati? Someone that struggled to make connections?

The Queen in Voyager said that she originated from Species 125 and that she was assimilated as a child. Did the Borg retroactively appoint a monarch, or was she speaking about her form at the time, much like how her current body is now human?

All this Borg stuff remains nebulous, so any further elucidation is welcome--to me anyway. I never bought into that "mysterious unfathomable entity is so much spookier" narrative. The Borg were always fathomable; they just had very little under the hood when they were introduced.
