To be honest I don't think spock feels week. On second rewatch the love triangle feels very experimental than actual falling in love from spock pov
I think we are going to get a story where Tpring will tell spock to go sow his royal oates or for him to date other girls before he commits to her finally which will lead him to the arms of a willing Chapel and he will realise it was a big mistake. Reason spock never called off the engagement to tpring. Korby may be introduced to mend Chapel broken heart. Although watching snw with tos. Tpring should have called off the engagement a long time ago before amok time. Tpring and spock come off looking terrible since he never broke up with her and she only decided to break of with him when his pon far cycle came along. Chapel is almost kind of the innocent party here however a flaw on her part would have been that she got involved with a man who only got with her by default or because his fiance wanted to take a break. I have been watching the Crown on netflix and for some reason Chapel in snw reminds me of a young Princess diana. Getting involved with somebody who maybe could potentially love you but in the end his feelings becomes unrequited. which is the situation we see spock and chapel in with tos.

Isn't that what I said? He is messed up. Romantic love won't heal him. Relationships that spark off with people with severely messed up childhoods (Amanda hints that she was prevented from being a really human mother to her son), spark great passion but eventually seem to die. Spock has a huge mother wound, made worse by Michael leaving. He's literally in tears when she leaves. He's had one nervous breakdown and I predict that feelings for Christine will create another one, thus leading to him turning completely to his "Vulcan half." Just my opinion.

Yeah I think Spock overcompensates because he is paranoid about appearing too human until his epiphany in TMP. It's a shame. I never really thought that Chapel would have made a great foil for Spock until I saw the onscreen chemistry between Peck and Bush. Now I can see there was a missed opportunity, albeit one that would never have been realised with Chapel in cameo support roles.

I always fancied that it was Chapel hosting Spock's consciousness that sharpened up her career focus and led to her seeking more qualifications. I would have preferred her as a PhD rather than MD though to give more room to move out from McCoy's shadow.

I don't find the backstories of Kalomi or Korby remarkable enough to spend time with on SNW. I'm OK if the timing on both ends up being retconned slightly so that they occured before the series started.

Didn't Christine have a crush on Spock in the Original Series, though? I like how they put that in with Chapel and Spock. As for future character cameos, I know it's quite illogical, but I would absolutely love to see a McCoy cameo in season two! :D

I say more Chapel as this 47 year old has a major crush on her even though she is at least half my age. It is ok, my wife knows. She has a crush on Peck. Lol

I hope for a return to Majalis, with a solution to end the horrible practice to sacrifice children!

I doubt it, Prime Directive and all that, and if they do, Season 2 seems too soon.

I mean a technical solution based on cooperation and not one that based on violence.
They do it because they think they have no choice and not because of religious fanaticism.

A progressive approach is what i expect from a Star Trek-Show ( especially the federation) and not the usual stuff.

That doesn't change the application of the Prime Directive.

According to articles I've read Chapel spends a great deal of time off the ship (Korby?). The Spock/Chapel thing "heats up" (whatever that means). T'Pring will be around. Jess Bush says season two is MUCH superior to season 1.

Actually according to Majel Barret Chapel in TOS WAS a PHD. She took a cut in rank and pay to join the five year mission to look for Korby. Notice that Chapel was tapped to work on the Nomad situation. "Just a nurse" wouldn't do that.

Actually in SNW it is Chapel calling a halt when Spock hurries down to sickbay to find out about her feelings. We don't know yet what happens between Spock and T'pring. My hypothesis is that he marries her officially at some point along the way. He calls her his wife. This new Chapel does not give the slightest indication that she is going to be bed buddies with Spock to sow his "wild oats" Not a bit. Chapel IMHO will NOT be willling. She is fighting it hard because Spock is deep down rather screwed up and you know those Star Fleet men, they date you on the mission and then disappear.

That assumes that T’Pring a) does not observe that Spock is screwed up deep down, and b) will think the same way as Chapel in putting a halt to a Spock-Chapel romance. Which she might not. Vulcan morality is different from human morality, after all.

Indeed. But, more than that, I think that T'Pring will become more and more distant just due to Spock's adventuring out on the Enterprise. Not too dissimilar to people who grow apart when real life situations take them separate directions, despite the great wish to remain connected. Spock's travels couldn't help up but impact him, especially as he tries to adhere to the Vulcan way, yet still not fully Vulcan.

Respectfully, T"Pring is not in control of what Christine allows.
