"Scrubs" Rebooted at ABC

Wow you are right, season 9 is bad! It was never half as good as the previous 8 seasons.
Let's hope season 10 will be better
I guess I'm in the minority who actually liked "season 9" better than the last few seasons with the original cast. But then again I always approached it more like a loosely connected spin-off than a continuation of the J.D. saga, which was also the original intent for it by Bill Lawrence before ABC decided it should be "season 9".

I think that kind of cut out their legs under them from the start, and I wish they would have gotten more time.

But I totally understand why they ignore it for the new episodes.

Confirmed.

It's utterly incomprehensible to me how someone thought he should Eagle Faison out of the blue in an airport, that's a recipe for five in the face at best.

People and especially fans can be so weird sometimes.

I thought at first it was a joke, unfortunately it was not. Some people are indeed crazy

My thoughts on the first 2 episodes

Oh boy - where do i begin? This was not what i imagined or hoped for from the team that gave us Ted Lasso and Shrinking.

It is the exact same show with tired medical problems like patients going bankrupt or one that would have needed urgent medical care but a doctor wouldn't see her and then she gets critical ( it doesn't work because we don't know the doctor well enough or care enough yet).

Then they go ahead and write Dr. Cox out after spending 5 minutes on the show and getting one rant ( going up against my complaint of it being the same show but the rant was one of the few actually funny things), all the new characters are completely bland and have none of the instant charisma of the Janitor, Ted, nurse Roberts etc. and on top of it they broke up JD and Elliot again by getting them a divorce!

Maybe it's too early to tell, i'll definitely continue to watch to see but this show needs to improve tremendously and get a new identity of its own and some new shticks that are actually funny because resting on past laurels and doing the show on low effort cruise mode is not going to cut it.

Watched the first two. It was alright. I don’t know why they split up JD and Eliot again. Just seems unnecessary. We all know they will end up back together anyway.
I was expecting when I’d accepted the job, we cut to the Janitor somewhere, and he feels a great disturbance; that his arch enemy has returned.

I absolutely loved the first couple episodes. The only complaint is I could tell that, were this a regular 22-episode season, those two episodes would've been four or five. The pacing was a little fast, but I got used to it.

J.D. and Elliot split again

I really hate this nonsense when writers and show runners tred old ground again or ruin past endings. The 8th season finale, the true finale of the original show ended perfectly.

There was no reason to break them up in a reboot. The original show did that too many times to be an interesting story again.

I loved Scrubs but really not interested in watching a revival that tramples over what came before.

The icing on the cake - Not enough Cox = No Scrubs.

The first two episodes were a lot of fun and they recaptured that old energy immediately and almost perfectly.

Well, this popped up in my feed. Dave Franco talks about how much fun he had during his one season on Scrubs, and would be up for reprising his character, but is fully aware that "there is not a lot of love for the 9th season" and "I don't think the fans want me back".

Watching the first two episodes I really think whoever did the set design needs to get one of those technical Emmy awards. Dude literally rebuilt an actual hospital from the LA area that they filmed in (and has since been demolished) into a soundstage in Canada and it looks friggin SPOT ON.

Going to that level for a reboot really makes it seem like they intend more than 1 season.

But the Cox bait and switch is just infuriating. I saw several interviews with John C McGinley with the other actors and it really seemed like he was in the main cast... but he shows up for basically a couple of minutes and peaces out.

I get he may not have wanted to relocate for a long filming in Vancouver... although I feel like they could have done something differently with the character, had him move to a different position in the hospital on the board or something and just filmed his scenes (for the entire season) out of order and then had him a regular.

Scrubs without Dr. Cox wouldn't have been Scrubs. JD needed that antagonist/mentor and it made the show work. The new Scrubs with JD in pretty much the ultimate power position even if Dr. Park is shown as a nemesis (he still is OUTRANKED by JD) doesn't work. Also we saw how Dr. Cox wasn't just some evil swirmy asshole, he cared. He cared about patients and about the doctors. He cared about how effective the doctors could deliver medicine and it was important to him.

I'm not sure how this season will be with JD as the 'top dog'.

Dr Cox will be back for two more episodes this season and his wife will be in one.

Remember this is a streaming show so it probably won’t even have 10 episodes. :)
No, in the US, new episodes air on Wednesdays on ABC, and then a day later on Hulu in the US and Disney Plus worldwide. So it's actually an ABC show, and the first season will have 9 episodes. If there's a second season, there will probably be more episodes, my guess is between 12 and 18.

I remember really liking the original show for the first four seasons or so. After that, my viewing got more sporadic and I started missing episodes and just quit it completely at some point. I think there felt a decline in quality and I started finding JD annoying, or something. I really can't remember the timeline on what I watched but I'll guess about half of the original episodes. So I didn't know what to expect with these two new episdoes...but I enjoyed them! They felt like the show I remember liking 20 something years ago and not the show I stopped caring about. I didn't remember/know that JD and Elliott got married so it didn't bother me that they've split now. I also think I read that Cox was just a guest star so I wasn't bothered that he isn't going to be around as much. It makes sense that some of them would have moved on or be in different positions by now. I'll keep watching.
