I've certainly always wanted to have a good rapport with everyone. I'm not unreasonable ... although, I do lean to the Right more than most on these boards, it seems. So, I appreciate the advice and will give it every consideration.
As a UKer, I wish they'd extend Scotland further south and then leave. Say to Lancashire...
Doesn't the British Monarchy decend from King James (I in England and VI in Scotland). Ship the Windsors to Scotland and find a new King/Queen for the English.I'm okay with it IF they are going to have a King or Queen of Scotland. Doesn't have to be anything fancy, they can even give 'em a paper crown from Burger King and their whole royal allowance can be a pub tab. But I want them to have one.
If not, then LA-AME. And no.
Och! It's nah far enugh! It needs to be well inta FRANCE!Why not just go all the way down to say just north of the M25.![]()

I can certainly understand WHY Scotland wants independence
Mostly, except that Texas, California, and Hawai'i were actual countries before they were states. (And they're the only states whose secessionist movements I ever take even slightly seriously, because of that, too.)The States are really subdivisions of one country,
California did produce His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Norton, Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico.^ Um, no. California was part of Mexico, until the Mexican Cession at the end of the Mexican-American War gave the US sovereignty. The so-called "California Republic" was a four-week farce (and probably a racist one, though I don't know for sure) that would be almost completely forgotten today had its flag not become the CA state flag. Sure, the revolt was mostly harmless (only resulting in a handful of deaths) and the word "Republic" on the flag is always good for a laugh, but let's not kid ourselves by lumping the Bear Flag Revolt in with legitimate Hawaiian history, eh?
As for Californian "secessionist movements"... well, that's another laugh.
Neither was Scotland, not in the modern industrial/unified economy and government sense. This does kind of mirror the situation of Canada & Quebec though, but on the other hand Quebec never was its own country.

I'm from Birmingham... we're good at riots, watch yourself!

I genuinely don't see the point of Scotland leaving. Other than sticking two fingers up and then stabilising/recovering for the next 20 years, I can't figure it out. It's like losing a finger and then assuming you'll still be able to punch as hard.
Last estimates I saw said something like 35-40% wanted independence, even though the SNP came up with those figures and were banking on them increasing over the year.
You all know Wales' Plaid Cymru want independence as well? Though I think their financial situation is worse than Scotlands.

Whilst the number of Welsh who'd be up for independance has risen since devolution, I thnk the vast majorty realise it would be much harder for Wales to stand alone than Scotland.
Anyway this seems to sum up Salmond's attitide quite well

Thanks for remembering my predecessor, Norton-1. Part of the reason that I want Scotland to have a monarch is so that I, Norton-2, will have someone I can deal with more or less on par.California did produce His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Norton, Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico.![]()
