Scotland Leaving the UK: America's Opinion

This American has no opinion on which is best for the Scottish people. It's their right to decide for themselves. The health of the US will not be adversely affected by either outcome. We have our own shit to focus on that's far more pressing in that regard.

I'd say the above but without even any qualifiers. It's just none of our business, period. If there's an independent Scotland, fine. If there's not, fine. It's not our place to get involved or attempt to sway it one way or the other.

California did produce His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Norton, Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico. :p
I've long thought SF ought to produce a new Emperor. He'd walk the streets by day, posing for photos with tourists and such, attend all the Giants home games, parades, and other such civic functions, and issue the odd proclamation here and there. It'd be an unofficial yet full-time job, for sure, and would require a very delicate mix of an eccentric but not too loony person, but, done well, could be awesome. :techman:

Typical Northern arrogance. There's only two parts of the country, London and The North.

Well, Scotland's welcome to ya.

Love,

The South.

I've been aware of it. When I visited Scotland on vacation, I did ask one of the locals about it and they were dismissive of leaving the UK. I would have thought they would be eager to reclaim their own country, but I guess so much time has passed, they are part of the UK and happy to be so.

My opinion? Their business, not mine. I wish them luck either way. Nice country; nice people.
