"Sarek" Line-by-Line

[LeadHead]

Sarek: A sensible precaution.

Picard and Sarek sit on opposite sides of the table. Sarek places his left hand on Picards face to begin the Mind Meld. Picards eyes close.

Sarek: My mind to your mind. Your thoughts to my thoughts.

Picards eyes open.

 

[Leandar]

(Bridge)



Data: Commander, the Legarans are ready to beam aboard.

 

[LeadHead]

Riker: Very well.

 

[Leandar]

(Sarek arrives on the bridge, very much back to himself)

Sarek: Number One, please inform the Legaran delegation that Sarek of Vulcan is on his way to welcome them.

 

[LeadHead]

Riker: (surprised) Yes Ambassador.

Shortly after, Riker and Sarek walk down a corridor

Riker: I take it the mind-meld was a success?

 

[Leandar]

Sarek: Yes, all went as planned.

 

[LeadHead]

Riker: Is Captain Picard all right?

 

[Leandar]

Sarek: Don't worry, Number One.

 

[LeadHead]

Riker: And the Ambassador?

 

[Leandar]

Sarek: I am myself again. It has been a long time.

(Sarek enters the conference room, leaving Riker alone in the hallway. Meanwhile....)

 

[LeadHead]

In Picards quarters, he is filled with many strong emotions

Picard: NOOOOO! It is... wrong. It is wrong! A Lifetime of discipline washed away... and in it's place bedlam. BEDLAM!!! I am so old.... there is NOTHING left.... but dry bones and dead friends.

Picard cries for a brief moment

Picard: Tired, oh so tired.

 

[Leandar]

Beverly: It will pass, all of it. Just another hour or so. You're doing fine. Just hold on.

 

[LeadHead]

Picard: No! This weakness disgusts me, I HATE IT! Where is my Logic?! I am betrayed by desires. I want to feel. I want to feel...everything. But I am a Vulcan. I must feel nothing. (Crying) Give me back my control!

 

[Leandar]

Beverly: Jean-Luc!

 

[LeadHead]

Picard: (crying) Perrin....Amanda... I wanted to give you so much more. I wanted to show you such... tenderness. But that is not our way. Spock.... Amanda.... did you know? Perrin, can you know how much I... LOVE YOU! I do...LOVE YOU!

Beverly comes close to Picard and wipes away his tears

Picard: Beverly?

 

[Leandar]

Beverly: I'm here, Jean-Luc. I'm not going anywhere.

 

[LeadHead]

Picard: It's quite difficult. The anguish of the man, the despair pouring out of him, all those feelings, the regrets. I can't stop them

Picard begins to cry again. Crusher hugs Picard.

Picard: I can't stop them. I can't!

 

[Leandar]

(Beverly takes a sobbing Picard into her arms)

Beverly: Don't even try.

 

[LeadHead]

Later....

First Officers Log, Stardate 43920.7. Ambassador Sarek has successfully concluded the negotiations with the Legarans. The USS Merimac has arrived and will transport the Ambassador and his party back to Vulcan.

 

[Leandar]

(Transporter room)


Picard: I hope your journey aboard the Merrimac will be uneventful.
