I was obviously referencing the film Paraíso Perdido about a nightclub that has stopped in time, that my pal Dante lent me, and was siting atop my tv.


Eh, it was Picard's favorite character (and clearly Stewart enjoyed playing him), it'd be great to see him get to revisit him. And bring the rest of the new cast along to play some pulpy hardboiled over the top dated characters.

That'd be great if he played them all, and Rios has to ask why do you always give me the suspect role?

I'm thinking that Q will give a chance to try to fix what he did wrong that caused so many to die (Paradise Lost = what happened that lead to synths being banned and Starfleet to chance so drastically) .

You can see the name Dixon Hill. We know Picard loves the novels and character, I think it's clear what they are referencing.

As to Paradise Lost, (the so called fall of man) to me invokes the once idealized federation losing it's way, almost losing the Synth planet in Et in Arcadia Ego, the flower on the cover might somewhat parallel Soji/Sutra etc. and their planet defense. And their once isolated/untainted world no longer living in "innocence". Also the somewhat broken " tossed out" crew of La Sirena.
The narration and image then pans to a ship(Stargazer of the og "Picard Maneuver") and to *the hourglass sand flowing up backwards.
Hinting an opportunity "second chance" to revisit their mistakes, and all the ramifications and paradoxes of changing the time line that implies.
And of course the card game which invokes the final TNG temporal anomaly focused episode All Good Things (...must come to an end).

But if Picard is really going to visit elements of his past as part of this show, I don't see how they don't end up doing de-aging, either on him, or other characters we know and love. Unless they just recast everyone.

Again, just follow TNG Tapestry rules. They didn't de-age Picard in that episode. The other people in the past saw him as young, but the audience didn't.

Another way they'll probably avoid the de aging by not visiting known characters in the past.

Patrick said we'd see times we've never seen before in Trek. So they can easily avoid known characters that way.

The Stargazer is one way to do that. Yes we saw some of the bridge crew (and Jack Crusher) in a couple TNG episodes, but those were one offs or background actors, no real reason to keep the same actors for those characters. Maybe we'll actually see Jack's death.

And there is a lot of Picard's past we never saw on screen before. He was in Starfleet for 40 years before TNG started.

I still like my theory that the Q and Guinan use to be married. Also at some point many of Guinans people evolved to become Q and the rest stayed as long lived aliens. Their marriage ended when Q evolved and Guinan choose to stay as is. Jason

I'm not super excited about time travel story lines, I think Trek can be accused of overdoing it.
Really looking forward to S2 after this trailer, I'm sure they will do it justice.

Gods, I hope it's nothing like "Guinan and Q used to be an item". I know many have speculated something like this, but it's just so trite...

And count me in on the "no Dixon Hill, please" side. But I'm hard pressed to explain the book away, unless it just means they're "investigating" something... But they don't need to show that book just to get that across.

Q is Picard's LOKI.

Together plus a dash of Loki you do get these main nemesis, as chaotic infatuated trickster deities.
