Spoilers S2 teaser trailer

Since that Stargazer model appears to be unchanged, that probably means if they show the exterior of it in a flashback, it won't be changed much.

That's also not the same Stargazer model from Season 1. The one in Season 1 was fully coloured model, this one is yellow/goldish.
It seems flashbacks are still a part of this show's format.

A few free thoughts:
The Admiral seems to be wearing a vintage uniform https://twitter.com/dannylavery9/status/1379399487509180416 this looks to be just after Picard resigned?

Sir Pat asked Whoopi to be on the show on national television, I guess an appearance by Q kind of confirms her role? Time travel is a big addition to this particular series, how will it fit the tone?

What is this 'thing we've never done in 178 episodes and 4 movies' Sir Pat alluded to?

There is little of Picard's life we know about from beore TNG and after Nemesis, so they are pasts to explore. Could they go all Trials and Tribble-Ations on us and use archive footage to revisit the Enterprise-D?

What about the tablet? Finally a concrete (no pun intended) DS9 connection after throwbacks to TNG and VGR

One of Sir Pat's agreements for this show was that he was not in a Starfleet uniform on the Enterprise. Could he relax that?

Not to mention the fact that Admiral Jean-Luc Picard is DEAD and we're watching a golem with a copy of his memories on the screen. Controversial I know, but how will they play with this?

Plus of course there are six other regulars - most of whom Picard had never met before last season, where do they come into all this?

Also - rumour has it filming is scheduled right until the end of the year, which could mean they are filming Season 3 too. This is a good thing as it may mean a lesser wait between seasons, and they have planned ahead.

nevertheless I can't wait to see what they are doing. I love this show.

The one negative of the time-focused plot of the second season: We're almost certainly going to see distractingly awful de-aging again, whether on Q, Guinan, or Picard himself.

I suspect they just repainted their model from S1.

If they show the interior, I wonder if they'll give it a Discovery-style upgrade or settle for recreating the crusty back wall and helm/nav console from movies I-IV that was used in the original episode?

John de Lancie on the panel implied they wouldn't be de aging him. The excuse is that he looked older to make Picard feel more comfortable.

Regarding the de-aging who knows?

If the time travel is TNG 'Tapestry' style they don't need to de age Picard.

And we don't know how long El-Aurians live for, maybe Guinan has reached the point in her lifespan where she starts to look older.

They also might have improved their technique from season 1.

I think there are several hints that time travel will be involved in S2. I wonder if Picard will have regrets about his life or grief over something and Q will send him back in time to relive a key moment? I know it would be a repeat of "Tapestry" but that was a great TG ep so if they have to borrow from TNG, that would not be a bad choice.
I personally have always love time-themed episodes that explore this kind of stuff. Outright "time travel" is not as much fun as these more nuanced examples of using fun temporal mechanics and scenarios to teach the characters something. Meaning...I like shows like "Tapestry (TNG)," "...All Good Things, (TNG)" "Terra Firma (DSC) and "Emissary" (DS9) more than the standard "we went back in time and had a fun adventure" episode. Hell, I even thought the Nexus was an awesome concept...it was just used and executed poorly in the GEN script.

i could see something like another Tapestry/AGT (esp since Avengers EG did that) basically another 'Christmas Carol' type story with Q taking Picard back to various TNGs and the stargazer . like a big budget 10hr sequel to 94s AGT (like some fans wanted one of the movies to be about Q)

maybe they'll get McAvoy for the stargazer stuff (didnt he say hed play young Picard for free?)

McAvoy is too old to be young Picard now. They'll hire an unknown 20something who can carry on Picard's role once Sir Patrick re-retires in a Stargazer series or whatever.

Where does that leave the rest of the cast? Just because Picard is the main protagonist, Idon't want the others relegated to glorified exras. (Well, except for one or two of them.)

That's my biggest question here. Many are drooling over Q's return and Guinan and chomping at the bit for the dramatic TNG reunion show. Except, we have other characters who were introduced last season who maybe might want some development at some point in time. I know, it's confusing.

Sure...let's go with that.

"Let's go with that?"

Um, what's with the dismissive bullshit. It was intentional. The writers didn't "forget" that Q used to be a greater menace/nemesis and only "accidentally" made him different in the later episodes....

I'm pretty sure the change was on purpose, playing to De Lancie's strengths.

Yeah, De Lancie as a menace fits well for a one off, a la TOS. Less so with the ongoing impish nature he took on which De Lancie seemed to enjoy more. But, regardless, not an interesting character in either style.

I wonder how regularly De Lancie will appear. It may be a few episodes to check in with Picard. He may appear to get the ball rolling and not return until later.

Under Dante (Paradise Lost) , what I assume is a Dixon Hill novel) name: The Dark Tunnel; Tracy Torme'.
Will Q give us (allow Picard) a hardboiled detective romp.

No. I hope not. Couldn't stand Dixon Hill back then and I still can't. Always cringed and found the character rather sexist somehow.

That said, when I saw the book, I was thinking that maybe Q will let him try to make up for what he did that forced him to step down.

Just watched the preview again, and adding what he said, it sounds like the latter might be the case.

I loved The Big Goodbye, but none of the follow-ups had any of the magic of that episode...at all.

I think the book is a big hint for sure.

I was obviously referencing under the shadow cast by the film Paraíso Perdido about a nightclub that has stopped in time, that my pal Dante left siting atop my tv.

Eh, it was Picard's favorite character (and clearly Stewart enjoyed playing him), it'd be great to see him get to revisit him. And bring the rest of the new cast along to play some pulpy hardboiled over the top dated characters.
Hard when all the suspects look exactly like Rios, with only their accents distinguishing them.
That'd be great if he played them all, and Rios has to ask why do you always give me the suspect role?

To be clear, I don't think they will be de-aging Q, or Guinan during the "present." But if Picard is really going to visit elements of his past as part of this show, I don't see how they don't end up doing de-aging, either on him, or other characters we know and love. Unless they just recast everyone.

We can only hope they don't change it much inside either, and keep the props and costumes consistent as well...
