Rewatching TOS After SNW

Not only that, most of the 'horror' falls flat when you realize it only works by nerfing Trek weapons to the point of worthlessness. A TOS hand phaser set on disintegrate or even wide-angle heavy stun would have rendered the gornling threat INERT.
I blame Voyager.

I've always laughed at TOS S1 The Galileo Seven in that Spock and the rest of the stranded shuttle crew seemed to suddenly forget that their Type II Hand Phasers had a stun setting. They didn't even try to explain away with some obligatory reason the large anthropoids were somehow immune to stun or anything; Spock just refused to fire directly at them as it would kill them, and he felt that was wrong to do in their situation. (And yes, if they COULD stun them into unconsciousness 99% of the reason for the plantside drama in the episode goes away; so yeah, that's why their sudden amnesia. :))

While we wait for season 3, what are some TOS episodes to rewatch after having the new context of SNW?

The Naked Time, What Are Little Girls Made Of?, and Amok Time jump to mind.
Just be prepared for the jankie things during the re-watch like in What Are Little Girls Made Of? nurse Chapel saying the line " Have you ever been engaged Mr Spock?"

Since I've been doing a postSNW rewatch of TOS I though I'd repost this observation here:
This line from the Menagerie could be interpreted as Pike knowing Kirk ( and even McCoy)
MENDEZ: Captain Pike. (a scarred head and shoulders sticking out of wheelchair device) Captain, you remember these gentlemen. They wanted to visit you. Two flashes mean no. I thought you might make an exception for them. (flash, flash) I'm sorry, gentlemen.

Spoxk was never engaged; he was betrothed.

It was an arranged marriage, and even in snw one of T'Pring's concerns about their relationship was that Mr Spock was doing it more out of a sense of duty and cultural obligation then anything else.

Never the less, it is an odd question to ask someone with WHOM YOU WERE PART OF A LOVE TRIANGLE WITH !

And what triangle was that exactly? Remember at this point in Strange New Worlds, Spock and T'Pring have ended their arranged marriage. There is no triangle to be a part of ;)

Righto,... lets just say the three of them are familiar with each other, with possibly more familiarity down the track.

Did somebody mention the different context now of Spock's consciousness sharing space with Christine inside her skull during "Return To Tomorrow?"

The whole premise of the Galileo Seven episode being Spock's first command has been totally subverted by the S2 opener, where Spock is left in command of the ship, steals it out of spacedock, and averts a war with the Klingon Empire.

I've always takwn that line from Spock 'agreeing' with McCoy about it being his first command as his usual subtle snark. Spock knows it isn't but doesn't want to give McCoy the satisfaction of entering another mental sparring match.

But the Shuttle WASN'T his first command.

Hell, in The Cage, Spock is seen on the Bridge in Command after Pike and Number One have been captured ordering Engineering to break orbit and abandon Pike and the rest of the captives. The Talosians effectively prevent the ship from leaving orbit, but not for Spock's lack of trying. But the point stands that he WAS in Command of the ship at that time.

The opening teaser of TOS S1 The Corbomite Maneuver also shows Spock in Command of the 1701 while Kirk is in Sickbay for his quarterly physical check (and McCoy is making damn sure he's not interrupted too.) Spock gives orders to BOTH Bailey and Sulu and at the end of the teaser has even ordered a Red Alert.

Hell, TOS S1 The Menagerie (Parts I and II) events occur BEFORE the events in TOS S1 The Galileo Seven, and that episode has him taking illegal Command of the 1701 - but again, until Kirk shows up in the Shuttecraft, Spock again WAS in Command of the USS Enterprise.

So yeah, the error is IN TOS S1 The Galileo Seven in that many there CLAIM it's Spock's 'first command' when in fact, no, it wasn't.

Say it with me: YATI (Yet Another Trek Inconsistency) 57 year PRIOR to Strange New Worlds.

I’ll say this I would love for them to do a reimagining of The Menagerie and make it a two hour television movie. You can also Add more character development and story if they wanted and it can labeled as to being the “official” finale of Strange New Worlds similar to how Generations passed the baton on to the new generation crew. The series finale prior to this would’ve been like handing the “keys” over to Kirk.
