Tech works at the need of plot.
Yep. Trek weapons have never been any good at all when the plot requires that they fail. That goes double for the transporter.

I blame Voyager. Not only that, most of the 'horror' falls flat when you realize it only works by nerfing Trek weapons to the point of worthlessness. A TOS hand phaser set on disintegrate or even wide-angle heavy stun would have rendered the gornling threat INERT.
Just be prepared for the jankie things during the re-watch like in What Are Little Girls Made Of? nurse Chapel saying the line " Have you ever been engaged Mr Spock?"While we wait for season 3, what are some TOS episodes to rewatch after having the new context of SNW?
The Naked Time, What Are Little Girls Made Of?, and Amok Time jump to mind.
I now take that line to be her being sarcastic with towards a messy ex haha
MENDEZ: Captain Pike. (a scarred head and shoulders sticking out of wheelchair device) Captain, you remember these gentlemen. They wanted to visit you. Two flashes mean no. I thought you might make an exception for them. (flash, flash) I'm sorry, gentlemen.
Hardly jankie. Just new context.Just be prepared for the jankie things during the re-watch like in What Are Little Girls Made Of? nurse Chapel saying the line " Have you ever been engaged Mr Spock?"
Spoxk was never engaged; he was betrothed.Just be prepared for the jankie things during the re-watch like in What Are Little Girls Made Of? nurse Chapel saying the line " Have you ever been engaged Mr Spock?"
Never the less, it is an odd question to ask someone with WHOM YOU WERE PART OF A LOVE TRIANGLE WITH !Spoxk was never engaged; he was betrothed.
It was an arranged marriage, and even in snw one of T'Pring's concerns about their relationship was that Mr Spock was doing it more out of a sense of duty and cultural obligation then anything else.
And what triangle was that exactly? Remember at this point in Strange New Worlds, Spock and T'Pring have ended their arranged marriage. There is no triangle to be a part ofNever the less, it is an odd question to ask someone with WHOM YOU WERE PART OF A LOVE TRIANGLE WITH !
Righto,... lets just say the three of them are familiar with each other, with possibly more familiarity down the track. And what triangle was that exactly? Remember at this point in Strange New Worlds, Spock and T'Pring have ended their arranged marriage. There is no triangle to be a part of![]()
Not really...my wife asks me if I'm stupid all the time when she already knows the answer.Never the less, it is an odd question to ask someone with WHOM YOU WERE PART OF A LOVE TRIANGLE WITH !

Read about the differences here:Hmm... I didn't know those were two different things. What's the distinction?
I've always laughed at TOS S1 The Galileo Seven in that Spock and the rest of the stranded shuttle crew seemed to suddenly forget that their Type II Hand Phasers had a stun setting. They didn't even try to explain away with some obligatory reason the large anthropoids were somehow immune to stun or anything; Spock just refused to fire directly at them as it would kill them, and he felt that was wrong to do in their situation. (And yes, if they COULD stun them into unconsciousness 99% of the reason for the plantside drama in the episode goes away; so yeah, that's why their sudden amnesia.)
But the Shuttle WASN'T his first command. The whole premise of the Galileo Seven episode being Spock's first command has been totally subverted by the S2 opener, where Spock is left in command of the ship, steals it out of spacedock, and averts a war with the Klingon Empire.
