Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Watching the Seafair Torchlight Parade and there was a commercial for the Tulalip Hotel Resort and Casino, and, it got me to thinking - it wasn't just Covid and raising prices and charging fees for pretty much everything that drove tourists out of Las Vegas, it was legalized gambling on Indian reservations that led to the decline.

Why spend all that money on airfare and hotel rooms when you can get the same experience just a short drive from your doorstep.

I can think of five hotels/casinos/resorts an hour to ninety minutes from my apartment that have the same amenities as any one of the brand name casinos in Vegas that attracts the same performers in venues that equal to, or better than Vegas.

I've recently had to put my computer programmer hat from the nineties back on to program an AI.

It is said that computers are so stupid, they will do whatever it is that you tell them to do. Nowhere is that more true than dealing with an AI. 😖

Is it possible for me to convince my parents that taking smartphone calls in public in speaker mode is a bad thing?

You could suggest that...
1. It's incredibly rude. No one wants to hear you yelling into your phone in public. It's just bad manners.
2. It's not very safe. You are broadcasting your names, the other persons' names and /or information so that any shady character can find out any type of info about you.

Tell them I said so.

Yeah, that's not gonna matter to them. Many years ago, one of the very first things my mother blurted out to my new neighbors we knew nothing about was that I was living alone in the house. Why would she even say that?

Holy crap. The article on Ars Technica said the employee was grabbed and tied to a chair, so the crew could "violently" smash pies in the person's face.

Not only should the employees sue the ever-loving crap out of the company , the Comcast staff should be charged with assault.

My mother and I at the drive-up lane at Target:

Mother: "Is there a place inside where I can sit down?"
Me: "We're not going in."
Mother: "We're not? How will you get your stuff?"
Me: "The staff will bring it out to us."
Mother: "How? How will they know you're here?"
Me: "I have an app on my phone that tells them I'm here. They will bring the stuff out to us."
Mother: "Is there someplace inside where I can sit down?"
Me: "We're not going inside. The staff will bring it out to us."
Mother: "The staff ... Brings it to you?"
Me: "Yes, Mother."
Mother: "How will they bring it out?"

(Target staff member walks out pushing cart full of merchandise)

Me: "They have a cart."
Mother: "So ... they push the cart out?"
Me: "Yes, Mother."
Mother: "How will they know you're here?"
Me: "I have an app on my phone that tells them I'm here."

(Target staff member puts bag full of mayonnaise through open passenger side window.)

Mother: "So you let the staff know you're here. They bring the stuff out?"
Me: "Yes, Mother."
Mother: "Oh, okay! I see what you mean now!"
