True, but at the same time, we haven't heard anything in ages (hence the tweet to Blomkamp). Disappointing if true.
Good. I have no interest in Blomkamp's sad revisionist fan fiction dreams.
Can't be as bad as 'Alien Vs Predator', 'Alien Vs Predator 2', 'Alien Resurrection' and 'Prometheus'.

While those first three movies are balls (although Resurrection is interesting when looked at as a proto-Firefly), Prometheus is top-tier Ridley Scott, alongside Alien, Blade Runner, Hannibal, The Counselor and the director's cut of Kingdom of Men.

I enjoyed Prometheus, it was visually stunning. Was it what I had hoped to see- no. I did not care for the whole Engineer angle and had really wanted to see a biomechanical race of large Space Jockeys designed for specific tasks instead of having it downsized into a small space suit.
Still, it is canon now and now Ridley Scott has several move films to tell his story before it synchs up with the first Alien movie. That film is still my favorite- nothing can diminish that for me.

Yep.
Canon has become irrelevant, and the larger it grows, unfortunately, the more it is despised because we would rather shoehorn into something that exists than create new ideas. The nextgen, as we have grown fond of doing, will simply reboot or alt timeline to their own pleasure.

Ridley flat-out hated both AvP films, thought they 'sullied the franchise', and reportedly made their de-canonization a condition for him returning to 20th Century Fox to do the Alien Prequel Trilogy. (AvP also short-circuited plans Ridley was making to direct his own Alien5 with James Cameron as writer/producer, so there's that.)
