I wonder then if they're doing away with redshirts. Obviously it could just be a mistake, but considering that neither the Kelvin nor the first two pilots had red uniforms it's a possibility.

Canonically it probably would make sense, since both "the cage" and "where no man has gone before" -which are closest in timeline to the new series- don't have redshirts but only blue and yellow uniforms. But this is one of the instances where I would be happy if they ignore old canon. Gotta' love me some redshirts!

You kind of contradict yourself there. First you said they don't need to change anything. Then you say they probably already have changed it from the current version (because it sucks).

What contradiction? I said they didn't NEED to. You said they NEED to. All I said is they probably have. But I never said they NEEDED too. No contradiction there.

Yes, Phlox as seen in the episode "Terra Prime" and Trip from "Vox Sola". And I am pretty sure the photo of Frakes and Sirtis is from "These are the Voyages ...".
