Production Quality Of Picard

Any chance if it's not financially viable, Elon Musk or some other rich person becomes a Voyager fan and just dumps money on it?

Anything's possible but studios haven't appeared interested in outside funding before. The Save Enterprise campaign raised several million dollars and nothing came of that.

That said I think it's a smart long term investment but they are more interested in immediate results as they were with the TNG Blu-rays.

But does it stop people from cancelling their CBSAA subscriptions? Are there enough people clamoring for remastered DS9 and VOY that spending that kind of money would yield a meaningful profit for CBS?

I've yet to sign up for CBS AA. I watched Discovery/Picard at a friend's house but would gladly sign up if they remastered DS9/VOY and released an episode a week even.

I've let my CBSAA subscription lapse between seasons, but I'd keep it up if they had remastered DS9.

Alright, so we've got two people. Now we just have to convince another couple hundred thousand...

So Picard takes place 379 years in our future. The clothes that Picard and others wear look like today’s clothes. How can that be? Clothes today look nothing like what they had in 1641. So are they having some kind of nostalgia for early 21st century clothing?

Just like thet are obsessed with Shakespeare and classical music instead of their own time period's pop culture.

Oh, and the styles fit with color and tone of TNG.

I get it-Picard doesn't look futuristic enough. I guess close really does only count in horseshoes and hand grenades.

didn't we discuss that already?

Indeed, in the first post. Bumping your thread when it's gone quiet without having anything new to say...that's getting kind of spammy. Would you like to find out why a moderator reads the threads in his forum, @Pubert ?

Seriously, though. This is what happens when people try to predict what future clothing styles will be like:

Maybe for Lady Gaga, but not for the rest of the world.

It's of course a matter of opinion but attempts at futurism which don't pan out eventually become retro-futurism, which is interesting in and of itself. In contrast unimaginative casting of the future as the present will just feel dated eventually.

it’s nice to see an attempt at trying to create something that looks different. We know styles will most likely change in 379 years going from our history. The lazy creators don’t do anything it’s the ones that want to create a unique look are the ones that tend to create something remarkable.

If you think they’re so lazy, feel free to post some clothing designs of your own that you think real people 379 years from now will be wearing.

Seriously though - TOS would have been a lot less iconic if in terms of costume design they decided to go with boring blacks and earthtones rather than the wild use of color and form seen in the series at times.

Picard isn't TOS. And, yes, I recognize 60s fashion in TOS too.

Absolutely it's a take on 60s fashion - it's why TOS seems "retro futuristic" now. But they didn't try to play it safe at all when it came to costume design on TOS...they went bold, which is part of what made the series so visually impactful.

Unfortunately, the same boldness in early TNG wasn't received as warmly, but I think drawing the lesson that "Trek fashion must be bland" is the wrong conclusion.

I don't think that is the conclusion being drawn. I think it is a reflection of the difficult times that the Federation has gone through, specifically Picard. I think it reflects the tone of the show, as as things brighten up then fashion has the potential to do the same.

the costuming is boring and 20th century conventional clothing. Picards walking around with regular button shirts, belts and zippers straight out of a Walmart. It looks cheap and dumb. TOS while not perfect tried to at least make the clothing look like it was futuristic. Picard doesn’t even try.

Yes, you have said that multiple times. I don't agree and at this point I'll just let that go.

Take care.

You should write an article for Vogue if you're that obsessed with fashion.

Please post examples (images) of what you think the costuming should look.
