Post Ultimate Computer USS Excalibur

Took a break from greebling my star destroyer to do some work on the impulse engines. It's not yet the slick setup on the Enterprise but it's headed in that direction.

Such a nice impilse deck. I seem to remember some phase II designs that had the refit-type impulse vents but no deflection-crystal tokamak ring. The impulse section also moved much farther back--a lot like yours. Looks more beefy.

Let me just say I love every single thing................except the mini brussards. I loved to look of the originals you started with. I do like the more refit style engines though. Amazing work and love the backstory. The front just reminds me of.......a foreskin on the engine. :guffaw:

Yeah... Those mini bussards look really... off. I'm not going to name them anything, but but let's just keep it at "I don't like them". Is it perhaps an idea to experiment with a precursor to the refit covers? I mean I really liked the original nacelles, but if you really want to do something else with them that might be an idea.

Wow, surprised to see this pop back up. :)

I really like the shape of the front of those nacelles, but they need something below the bussards, like a coupleof vents or something.

I actually like the little Bussards and the smooth front of the nacelles - They're so unusual. In fact, I like the whole nacelle design, including the little kink in the pylon just underneath where they meet. She's a pretty striking ship!

I don't dislike the nacelles but I feel like you could do more with the front under the mini-Bussards. some sort of intake or vents, a secondary even mini-er Bussard, maybe even just some hard edges running down to the pylon, just. . . something.

Slight change to the nacelle... that'll probably be the extent of the changes to them though. Of course, they're not meant to be pretty, this design isn't trying to compete with the refit, it's supposed to be something of an ugly duckling/awkward teenager stage between the original Constitution, upgraded as far as it would go before having to redesign the ship into the Enterprise refit. Well anyway, here's a pic...

Over all it looks pretty good! The shapes seem to flow nicely. Are those round things bussards? they could be some kind of senor or other equipment. I ask because neither the Ent-null or Ent-A had bussards, so it doesn't seem like a common piece of tech at the time.

I know I've said it before, but I love this refit - especially the nacelles (even though you have put a little scoop-thingy under the Bussard collectors) ;)

Hey LordSarvain, how do you like that your McQuarrie Enterprise interpretation is the most popular image people use to represent what Discovery should look like?
