(Possible) Major Spoilers for the Next Series

Chalk me up as someone else who didn't think Extremis was that bad, the following two episodes on the other hand...

Yeah, I agree that the following two episodes hurt "Extremis" in retrospect and it's rather hard to view it as a standalone.

Yeah, if it had been a stand alone with a tweaked ending, it would’ve been great. But as a part of that trilogy.... ugh.

Extremis was okay up until it turns out to be a reset button with no real relevance other than setting up the next episode. Then it was ruined. The next two episodes being terrible makes it completely irredeemable.

Yeah, as an episode I'd rate it ok (and I think I did in the post Series 10 thread). But, its ending sucked and the next two episodes make the whole trilogy pretty terrible overall.

I have to say, Lie of the Land in particular probably would have benefitted if it had stayed standalone. At the very least, the episode starting off with some mysterious new alien race present on Earth having apparently been humanity's guardians and companions since the dawn of time and then cutting to people being rounded up and imprisoned for claiming the aliens have only been around since the dawn of time would have made for an intriguing WTF mystery to start the episode off on right off the bat.

Though, regardless the episode would still have needed some major work to be good. With something a lot better than the Power of Love being enough to protect people from being incinerated.
