Since when is this series on the verge of cancellation as someone above said?

The ratings have been improving quite a bit as of late.

How does that compute end of series?

How can you say an episode stinks before it even airs?

If its in your mind that its going to blow already, then it most likely will. Oh well, suit yourself.

I'll wait and see before I pass any judgement.

I wonder if we'll get those touchy-feely Borg this round. You know, as in, "I don't think the Borg Queen likes me anymore, Charlie!"

"Oh, don't be ridiculous, Sam. Of course she likes you!"

"Really?"

"Of course! Did you see the way she looks at you?"

"Well, no, I..."

And so on...

I'll wait and see. I'm afraid that B&B are going to give us a HORRIBLE episode, but I'm hoping that it might actually be good. If the spoilers are actually accurate then I think they might be able to pull this off without a major continuity violation. If all of the scientists present are assimilated, somehow the drones and their technology disappear from Earth, and none of the technical details are discovered by Starfleet, it just might work. Maybe Starfleet is left with no clues as to what actually happened to the scientists, just a big X-Files sounding mystery. It could actually make the Borg scary again for us. I just don't see how the Enterprise and crew would fit into the story.

One thing to consider is that First Contact was stardate 50893.5. The only Voyager Borg episode that happened before 50893.5 was Unity, so Janeway hasn't had a chance to mess up the Borg. I hope B&B realize this; it can help them out.

I voted for "I'll wait and see", and I'll tell you why:

1] I do not believe this trip is either necessary or warranted. I want them to do less with the latter era stuff than more, and it bothers me to no end that they will not let it go, especially since I got excited about this series precisely because it gets away from the era of the last three, which I was sick to death of.

That said...

2] They at least picked the one way it might actually work, picking up a potentially loose continuity thread from "First Contact" and extrapolating from it in a way at least superficially consistent with the rest of Trek.

3] I think there's a large number of assumptions being made as to what will happen, and I don't feel comfortable making too many, myself. e.g., who says this drone could even make contact with the Collective? Who's to say that part of the episode isn't Enterprise having to chase down and destroy the Borgified transport before it can escape into deep space? Who can say anything about a script we haven't read, let alone what happens when it goes before the cameras?

Because there are so many unknowns, I have to just wait and see.

But...

In case anybody from the production is reading this (long-shot, I know, but...), I repeat my plea... PLEASE stop dragging the latter-era stuff into this show. Make it about the mid-22nd Century. Embrace the timeframe and the premise!

Best,
Alex

Borg on ENTERPRISE is about as good an idea as Phyllis Diller doing a gyno-cam porno tape with Betty White holding the speculum. Bad ideas usually lead to little reward, especially in episodic television. :D

Wow, can I even count the ways that I did not need that image in my head??? ;) :D

Its a terrible idea and it shows they don't care about the fans just about ratings. First the Ferengi and now the Borg

I which those two hacks in control of the franchise would just fuck off!

My vote: It's probably a bad idea (messes with continuity, overuse, etc)

Not because of continuity, which given what happend in First Contact the plot sounds plausible, but rather overuse and I just dont care for the Borg.

Mike

If they want to have the borg on TV. They should have set the bloody thing in a time where the borg are. My god they have already said the vulcans landed on earth before first contact!

Are you trying to say the Borg did not exist in the 22nd Century?

I hate the idea. I hope to high heaven it NEVER happens. B&B need to focus on encountering species from the Pike/Kirk era and leave the overhyped and overused TNG races in their own time frame. Most of them are in areas of the galaxy no human spaceship is even REMOTELY close to exploring, anyways.

I agree with you completely. I was so excited when I saw the Tholian vessels in "Future Tense". It's bad enough the Ferengi were in an episode. The Klingons, Romulans, Tholians, Gorn, and anyone else from the TOS should provide more than enough stories assuming the writers are creative enough. There's no need to use TNG aliens.

I think its a great idea! :borg: :D

I have often thought what happened to the borg that Picard shoots of the dish and if there was any recage of the borg spere.
For me it true to canon, from First Contact. And (for me) it explains more about the borg rumors a lot more in voyager's dark frointer.
I have not read much about it as I don't wont to spoil it for myself. But if it's done well it could be fantastic.

:borg: :D :borg: :D :borg:

Re: POLL: How Do You Feel About the Borg on Enterp

The Borg???? >>> ??? *looks around in amazement*. Ho ho... B&B are really desperate... Borg. They are the desperate for ratings aliens.

This could be 'critical mass' for the Trek fans.

Re: POLL: How Do You Feel About the Borg on Enterp

Very nice continuity, tying it back to First Contact. Love it! First the Ferengi, then the Andorians and Tholians and Romulans, now the Borg. Man, the universe is a much smaller place than everybody thought, huh? And I think its great!

I think its very cool what they are doing with Trek history. It's like we have what the history books say, then we have what "really" happened. Much as our own histories are treated today... They've got plenty of "wiggle" room with a lot of things and I wish them all the best as they continue to map out the foundation of the Federation. :borg:

Uhh..... what's wrong with these numbers? (from the poll, T'poll?)

It's a really good idea
15 04%

It's an OK idea, if its handled correctly
75 23%

It's probably a bad idea (messes with continuity, overuse, etc)
70 21%

It's a really terrible idea
93 29%

I'll wait and see how the episode turns out
62 19%

I honestly have no opinion either way
5 01%

Hmmm....

To tell you the truth, I have only seen only 2 or 3 episodes, so I don't really know much about it. The only thing I can say, is that The BORG belong on all shows, because they are on all the other ones, and they are "ALWAYS" there. One thing I think they should adapt, is Q. That would add A LOT of "Pizaz" to the episodes.

Re: POLL: How Do You Feel About the Borg on Enterp

It would be so *awesome* if this episode began to reveal the fact that ENT is, indeed, set in the mirror universe introduced in TOS. Yeah, yeah, I know, it isn't likely ... but one can dream, no?
