Please tell me Torchwood gets better

The endings, people! The endings! They sucked so bad!

But Gene Hunt was The Awesome.
I've not seen either version, and don't know the endings, but, I've heard that the Btritish were much better including the Endings?

I thought the 3rd season of Ashes to Ashes was as good as all of Life on Mars, but it was a shame and quite odd that John Simm didn't come back for a cameo.

They did consider it apparently, but thought it would detract from Alex's story, and I think they were right. Also the whole point is that Sam Tyler had moved on to another place (heaven wherever) so there'd be no point in him being in the pub.

Personally I hated the end to LOM at the time, but in hindsight from A2A it makes a lot more sense.

I just watched the first two episodes of Miracle Day earlier today, and I thought they were pretty good. My mom thought so too, and she's just as big of a TW fan as I am. While I am disapointed it didn't have all of the aliens/time travel craziness of the earlier season I enjoyed what was set up in the first couple episodes.

Even at my advanced age, I would be embarrassed to watch a couple of the later episodes with my mother present. Just a warning if that sort of thing bothers you...

I concur.

Here's my low down on TW's seasons:

S1 - Drivel for the most part, with a couple of good episodes and OK premise.
S2 - Getting somewhere from the first episode I've seen, but I'll have to see it again to form a proper opinion.
S3 - Brilliant, so brilliant it is a total bastard to top (like NuWho's S1 with Chris, I guess).
S4 - Slick and competent for the most part, with decent support cast, but too rambling and padded.

In talking with a friend last night, I realized, were it not for Doctor Who, I don't think I would have watched Torchwood. And, for the most part, I'm okay with that. It isn't one of those shows we talked about in a thread a few weeks ago that you kick yourself over if you missed out on during the first run. It's not a waste of time, either, especially the better episodes and S3.

I think a better arc during S1 would have helped a lot. Part of the reason I liked S2 better is that it had a better arc.

Finished life on mars tonight. I enjoyed the ending. But then I was reading the Wikipedia page for it, which I had purposely avoided this whole time, and it spoiled the ending to ashes to ashes. Really bummed about that.

I have since watched a couple of random original who shows. City of Death and Caves of Androzanni. They were ok. To be honest I have gotten more enjoyment out of starting a rematch of nuwho. I feel I can really appreciate eccleston a ton more now.

I don't know if I will bother with any more Torchwood and may not bother with ashes to ashes since I'm spoiled.

I'd still watch Ashes to Ashes, it doesn't sound like too much was blown and it was insinuated in the ending to Life on Mars anyway (with Ashes to Ashes confirming it).
