Optimus Prime is the leader. That should be self explanatory.Robots fighting each other is all Transformers is basically about. The story inbetween is just giving you a reason why they do.While the movies are made for mass public, they still try to please the 'fans' by keeping true to the roots.
I think that what they did to Transformers was bad because well it's robots fighting each other! How the hell can you move away from that?
The thing is, you can say that on about any comic book movie. Batman fights deranged criminals. The story in between is just giving you the reason why he is.
I find it hilarious that people bash the hell out of Batman and Robin and yet love Transformers in the same breath. To me Transformers the Movie is the same thing that Batman and Robin is to the Batman franchise.
The thing is, is personally I wanted a cameo by Optimus Prime and to wait for him in the second movie. There is so much more depth and character to the story than what Bay did and for that I am very disappointed. Were the graphics great? Yes but he didn't get what the Transformers are.
I understand what exodus is saying but you can also work around that. There are certain things the comic book did that would work extremely well in the movie.
The story in between, as exodus is saying, is varied but also very rich in detail.
Call me an old fogie, but I don't want any of your Beast Wars, Beast Machines, Beast of Burden, or any other later era generation freaky Transformers variations showing up in the movies.
