Playmates Toys

well, got the update from MR. Looks like Mariner will actually be shipping on time and arriving by the middle of July.

But further delays have pushed Boimler (as well as Riker and Worf) back slightly. Apparently they are having alot of trouble on the likenesses with these 3. They are rushing the orders that are already in so they should still arrive in August. But new orders are being pushed back to September or later.

I’m probably gonna hold onto the Boimler pre-order since I’ll have Mariner on time. But I’m for sure not ordering Tendi and Rutherford until they are in-stock. And I won’t pre-order from them likely ever again.

First in-hand look at the MR Picard

Yeah, it doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence in the Mariner figure I’m getting that is set to be here Monday.

But we’ll see, the LD figures could be different since they are based on animated characters.

That "little head" Picard is seven heads tall, so it's much closer to accurate than the one to the right, which is only six and a third heads tall. And I'm not gonna dignify the complaint by comparing it to the proportions of the original Playmates figure on the left. ;)

So Master Replicas is catching shit for being more accurate to reality than previous figures?

I was gonna say the same thing; the ratios are completely fine, just less toyetic. The likeness of the Picard figure is the problem I've got. The last time I saw the prototype, it looked more like Mark Margolis than it did Patrick Stewart.

Quick (and very rough!) go at resizing so that everyone is the same size to show how it's actually the other two heads which are the wrong size compared to their body. I understand why they are, and have no problem with it. But peanut-head Picard is clearly the closest to reality.
