I would be sad to see it go, but I understand the rationale behind potentially closing it down and would accept the final decision, whatever it might be.

If it does get closed down (or maybe even if it doesn't), I wonder if I might be able to lodge a friendly request to get the "Fan Art Challenge Winner" badge (

) linked to my account? I won the contest back in September of 2015, before I think the badge existed. It was my personal TIC rendering of "Roddenberry's Dream".

Well, many months the challenge was not something that I thought I had any good ideas for. Meanwhile, a lot of people on the Art forum mostly make ships and ship related work (like interiors, blueprints, cutaways, etc). Yet most of the challenges didnt actually involve ships or interiors. There was a disconnect between what most of us make 90% of the time and the challenges.


Meanwhile I still have "the best of July" in my mind in terms of my favorite works from my fellow artists that have posted this month. No particular "theme", just the best work for that month. I dont know how you decide to pick if the artists dont choose to "enter" their work for a contest. Clearly there is new art every month, and clearly we have our favorites. It might be something about "Best of the Month" (open as to theme, subject matter, medium, etc).

If a work has a theme, that can be included by the artists and judged accordingly. Some are clever. But there ought to be room for "Hey, look at this really cool looking starship I made!" No "theme" exactly, just a really cool, well executed design. Let them be entered together. IDK. Just a thought.

So anything posted during the month automatically goes in the contest pool? And from there, it's narrowed down to three finalists?
