The president says differently:

Jed Bartlet: Can I tell you what's messed up about James Bond?
Charlie Young: Nothing.
Jed Bartlet: Shaken, not stirred, will get you cold water with a dash of gin and dry vermouth. The reason you stir it with a special spoon is so not to chip the ice. James is ordering a weak martini and being snooty about it.
:p

True, which is why you need ice that is VERY cold (so chips will actually fall off) and Gin that is VERY strong (so the weakening of the drink doesn't matter) ;)

it's the films fault. in the novels, it's stirred not shaken because that's how his adventures leave him: stirred, but not shaken.

Enough of that pesky warm ice.

Well, i don't like tequila. I got sick on the stuff...
I don't like Whiskey for the same reason. I go by the theory that your first really bad hangover will be a liquor you won't like the rest of your life.

The theory is sound, but for me, it was my first TWO really bad hangovers (vodka and Jack Daniels respectively). I can tolerate them nowadays, in mixed drinks, but I still don't particularly like them. For a long time I had a total aversion to them.

BTW, Martinis should have gin in them. :p ;)

Well, I can drink whiskey (particularly good whiskey) in a mixed drink or if I have a chaser.

How about a Vesper martini? 3 oz gin, 1 oz vodka, 1/2 oz Lillet blanc wine.

Maybe we should start a thread about alcohol rather than hijack the picture thread.

Holdy, we totally agree.

Nice.

Let's raise a properly mixed martini in honour of our agreement. :D

With olives, of course.

You killed the mood. :(

Twist of lemon.

It's OK, I guess, but not what I think of when I want a martini. I actually think Vespers would taste better with the original Kina Lillet, which was supposedly more sugary than Lillet blanc. I've never had one with Kina Lillet, since I would have been starting pretty young if I had! But based on what I've heard, I reckon I'd have preferred that incarnation.

Yeah, probably.

Enough talk, more pictures. Preferably new blood. None of you old timers who've been posting in this thread since time began...
