I think the problem is that for older Trekkies, this has been settled decades ago. There is no question...

BTW, Kirk kicks Picard's pansy ass every time.

Your analysis is the only correct one.

A more interesing question is the one that some keep trying to horn into thread... how about Kirk vs. Sisko. (personally, I think The Kirk Chop (tm) supercedes doing too much "LDS" with it's associated hallucinations and delusions of godhood).

There is no Kirk vs. Sisko. Unlike Picard, Sisko would recognize Kirk as the hero he is and treat him with the proper respect, unlike Picard, who talked down to Kirk and Spock both.

This is how it plays out: Kirk and Sisko go to Argelius, get drunk, then play keep-away with Picard's flute from "The Inner Light." Picard cries so Sisko and Kirk--not being heartless bastards--pool their credits and latinum to buy hiim a half-hour in a Saurian Brandy Room. Picard comes out and says "Chris Rock was wrong. Engage!"
