The episode title probably has a double meaning, referring to the students on Mars, and of the Romulan Empire, who are attacking Mars.
Only because we didn't see it morph and do more than just one animated element and a few blinking lights. It's supposed to be completely reconfigurable, so it's not outdated at all.
Complaining about lack of LCARS is like someone today complaining about the lack of DOS in today's computer world. Nothing unreasonable for having a change in interface. This is many years after Nemeses. Now , if they show flashbacks from the TNG era and retroactively "retcon" the graphics, THAT would be disrespectful.
I think the alien girl from the 'Children of Mars' grows up to be the young Starfleet officer in this 'Picard' trailer seen around 0:21:
Can't be, no bumps on the face of the Vulcan (Romulan?) character you are indicating. And the "alien girl" hasn't got pointed ears. I thought for a moment that the Human girl could be Dr. Jurati, but she isn't blonde.
This is clearly a sequel to Who Mourns for Adonais? where we will learn that both girls have been scioned by the ancient Roman War God himself.
Yeah, that’s what people have been saying. Also in the very first trailer with Riker, in the shot of him from behind in his kitchen, I’m almost certain you can see what looks like a TNG era replicator to his right, with a coloured screen above it. It’s too out of focus to make out if it’s LCARS, but it seems to be the right colour scheme for a TNG era computer screen.
It's a dream sequence. Possibly same one as Data painting. So he's in uniform in TNG era, talking to Data, next shot is him in Ten-Forward drinking tea, next shot Mars exploding in background. As far as dreams go, it's not too far fetched.
Though in the tea shot, Picard is wearing a civilian outfit, and Data appears to be wearing the First Contact+ TNG uniform.
