Yes, but this is the more important part. That article is a year old.
“So it’s an ongoing procedure for me. I heard only last night about a script that is being written, but written specifically with the actor, Patrick [Stewart], to play in it."

How long is script to screen these days? But again, it's been a year, and absolutely nothing has happened. Stewart isn't getting any younger.
I’m so excited because it sounds like the kind of project where the experimentation that I want to do will be essential for this kind of material. It’s good at 83…”
In name only.
And of the Cage. So, again, related but not really to my mind.
I never felt it was. So, regardless of intent it fails on this level. It's literally a continuation of TOS. It's... literally the same characters, played by the same people, in the same world.
Strongly disagree..SNW is a reimagining of elements of the The Cage and TOS as a whole, but has almost nothing to do with either of them.
How long is script to screen these days?
Or even script to announcement?
Some of these newer Trek shows have had a significant time gap from time of conception to airdate. Also, the script could be taking Stewart's age into consideration.

Seeing as he intends to portray Professor Charles Xavier in Avengers Doomsday, I dont think he has any intention of stopping just yet.
It can certainly be longer than a year, in some cases.Beats me? Do you know?
Oh, different beasts for sure. However, it does show that Stewart is willing, under the right conditions. As does his enthusiasm for this mysterious script, whatever it is.Sure. But Avengers is quite a different story from Paramount.

Its tough to know at this stage. He could be in it for 3 scenes, or 13, but it was mainly an example to demonstrate he's open to new projects. For all we know he'll be in the movie for only three scenes. And yes, I know people are saying he was part the huge cast reveal. That doesn't mean he'll be in there for the entire movie.
He's done a lot a lot of voice acting in recent years (He played Eobard Thawne in The Flash LEGO movie. He's done Ben 10, the 2018 Powerpuff Girls revival, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles).

We got a lot of Barclay between TNG and VGR. I'm not sure there's anywhere else to go with the character.
It probably would be.Maybe a Prodigy S3 might have been the best chance for him.
Are they really worth following up on? As with Endgame, it would just be a case of “oh that’s nice”. Not much dramatic or even comedic potential there. Also, various aspect of his future from “Endgame” – promoted to commander, teacher at the Academy, stops stuttering – are worth following up on if they actually happened.
