But again, it's been a year, and absolutely nothing has happened. Stewart isn't getting any younger.
How long is script to screen these days?
Or even script to announcement?
Some of these newer Trek shows have had a significant time gap from time of conception to airdate. Also, the script could be taking Stewart's age into consideration.

It's literally a continuation of TOS. It's... literally the same characters, played by the same people, in the same world.
Some things look different visually, which is addressed in the film... Enterprise looks different because it was refit. Uniforms change over time. The visual changes all make sense. You might not LIKE them, but they all make sense.
SNW has very little to do with the Cage, and in absolutely no way is SNW a "spin-off" of The Cage in any of the common usage of the word "spin-off".
SNW is a reimagining of elements of the The Cage and TOS as a whole, but has almost nothing to do with either of them.
I never felt it was. So, regardless of intent it fails on this level.

Sure. But Avengers is quite a different story from Paramount.
It can certainly be longer than a year, in some cases.
Oh, different beasts for sure. However, it does show that Stewart is willing, under the right conditions. As does his enthusiasm for this mysterious script, whatever it is.
It might end up being a thing, then again it might not. It's just not as quiet behind the scenes as we might imagine.
For all we know he'll be in the movie for only three scenes. And yes, I know people are saying he was part the huge cast reveal. That doesn't mean he'll be in there for the entire movie.
Its tough to know at this stage. He could be in it for 3 scenes, or 13, but it was mainly an example to demonstrate he's open to new projects.
With all due respect to Patrick Stewart and the rest of the TNG cast, I think it's time for them to hang up these characters. TNG itself is absolutely legendary and is still, by far, the most popular thing Trek has ever done on TV. In addition, we got three seasons of Picard to see Jean-Luc later in life, which culminated in a full-on TNG reunion and the best sendoff since the TOS cast in TUC. The whole cast got a proper swan song. Heck, even Wesley Crusher has gotten some redemption via Prodigy.
The TNG cast have now had two great send-offs, one in "All Good Things..." and one in "The Last Generation." It's time to let it go. If they want to go back to the Berman-era well again, go do something with DS9 or Enterprise (I'm viewing Prodigy as already being the de facto follow-up to Voyager). TNG has gotten its due. And I don't want to see them tarnish that by going back one too many times and doing something that messes up the great finale(s) that they already got.

Schultz has retired from acting. A brief cameo in the 2010 A-Team movie aside, he hadn’t taken a role for an almost quarter century.
He's done a lot a lot of voice acting in recent years (He played Eobard Thawne in The Flash LEGO movie. He's done Ben 10, the 2018 Powerpuff Girls revival, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles).

Barclay settling down with Maril. Riker and Troi were supposed to introduce her to Barclay, after the relationship with Leosa was exposed to be a ruse.
Also, various aspect of his future from “Endgame” – promoted to commander, teacher at the Academy, stops stuttering – are worth following up on if they actually happened.
It probably would be.
Are they really worth following up on? As with Endgame, it would just be a case of “oh that’s nice”. Not much dramatic or even comedic potential there.
Barclay only really works if he’s screwed up or neurotic about something, providing a contrast to the rest of the crew who always have it all together, professionally and personally.
