Spoilers Picard: COUNTDOWN! - Comic is available, spoiler discussion within

This might be the first Trek comic I buy since the original Countdown! I'm super pumped about ST:P.

Sounds like it could be a follow up to the original comic. Could be interesting

So, the comic prequel starts in November and the tie-in novel is out in February. I guess everything's in alignment for Picard to have a winter premiere?

Where did you hear that? The only thing I've heard is that it follows a mission that will have some kind of a big impact on Picard.
Yeah, it does have Countdown as it's title, but it seems to me that's more of a generic "this is a prequel" title, rather than an indication it actually follows up on the Kelvinverse prequel.

Considering the show seems to involve the Romulans, this could follow up from what happened to them in the previous Countdown comic.

Yeah, IDW did Countdown for the first Kelvin movie and Countdown to Darkness for the second. I figure they're just using it as a go-to title for Trek prequel comics, like how DC uses "Crisis" for many of its event comics even when they have nothing to do with each other.

I wonder if the Starfleet characters in this new Star Trek: Picard - Countdown comic will wear the uniforms from the Lower Decks cartoon, since that seems to be set just after Nemesis too.

Is Countdown even consistent with what we know of Picard?
In Countdown' s 2387 , Data is alive (in B-4's body) and is Captain of the USS Enterprise. In Picard, B-4 is in parts in a drawer somewhere and Picard...
Visits Nemesis-era Data on the holodeck. Whether it's Data's actual consciousness or just a holographic recreation of Data is unknown as of yet.

But Picard takes place in 2399, so there's plenty of time for B4/Data to be drawered.

Given that one of the plotlines is about Picard's guilt at the death of Data - it seems pretty unlikely to inject "and then he was alive again for a bit and then not" - narratively it adds a confusing unnecessary beat.

That's what I suspected.

Isn’t Picard also the Ambassador to Vulcan(?) in Countdown? Based on the trailer and the backstory snippets released in the Picard museum there’s no sign that happened pre-PIC either. Left the Enterprise in 2381 and retired in 2385 IIRC.

Even if you squint I don’t think the original Countdown is going to fit in to any of this at all...
