PIC S3 Ships & Tech

Huh... Spock & McCoy were able to spit-ball a functional torpedo guidance system in under 5 minutes in TUC back in the 23rd century. Has the tech been lost to time?

There's probably a good amount of jamming and countermeasures going on during any space battle, never mind the possibility the nebula itself was fouling the torpedos' guidance systems.

Probably so. However those last 4 torpedoes at the end of the episode 3 should've known better, IMHO. :)

Nah it wasn't that. Right at the end, the Titan is hit with her own torpedoes. The torpedoes had 3 seconds of flight time before hitting the Titan so I was surprised they didn't veer away from the Titan. The nebula probably prevented them from re-acquiring the Shrike but you'd think they would've recognized their own ship and avoided hitting it or if Titan was guiding them in would've turned them around.

Yeah, that just reinforces that they were being fired blind. The torpedoes in the Mutara nebula weren't so hot either.

Fair enough. I just noticed that the Titan fired at an angle so her torpedoes didn't have to do the dip maneuver under the saucer so yeah she was probably firing them in a dumb mode. Even though their sensors were wonky I don't think they were firing blind as Picard was able to one-shot a torpedo in flight with phasers. But the torpedoes were probably unguided.

Earth alphabet on his slug-o-cola, Earth deity curses that sound like life-long expressions, pale with facial stubble, somewhat unconventional head and ear size and position- was Sneed's lineage at all mixed with human? He easily looks young enough to have been born after official Federation-Ferengi First contact (which just makes ME feel hecka aged!), or a product of interaction(s) much earlier in these frontiers that aren't under close scrutiny by either government.

By the way, was anyone else seeing the similarity of some aspects of the Shrike's design ( the nacelles for example) to the bigger Dominion battlecruisers seen during the Dominion War in DS9?

I didn't register these things before in the first two episodes, but now i can't unsee them.

They’re both designed by the same guy.

Y'know what else they look like? Breen ships. Big, curvy and pointy with special weapons nobody else had during the D.W. Also designed by the same guy.

The Shrike looks a whole lot like a Conspiracy Butt Bug, but now that we know Changelings are involved it could have Dominion and/or (probably not Andor) Breen designers. Perhaps amusingly, right at the beginning of this episode, as the "The Swarm"-looking guys flying the Shrike are talking in their "The Swarm"-sounding language, my closed captioning identifies the speaker as "Changeling 1".
