Petition: Cancel Discovery And Greenlight Post-Nemesis Series

I've never heard of a "Starfleet Academy" show.
Back in the day it kept getting mentioned for the next show, or the next film. Then it would go quiet, and pop up again next time an idea was needed.

The premise was about as popular as herpes.

Maybe Discovery will go into the story some what of what took place after Nemesis and what lead up to Nero and Spock's incident.

Maybe we'll see Bacula as a very old guy, visiting the ship... "take care of her and she'll always get you home..."

I'd like to see a petition to get Donald Trump to blame everything we hate about the new STD on "Crooked Hillary."

"You know I could make a Star Trek series. It would be amazing! And I'd set it in an amazing time! After Nemesis! It would be huge! Not set before TOS like Crooked Hillary set the new Discovery series."

Why? Every series became worse and worse. I had the misfortune of watching a couple of random Voyager episode a few nights ago (the one where they go back to the 1990s, and the one with the dinosaur offshoots), and holy crap, that was some seriously awful acting, directing, and storytelling. The whole nature of Starfleet and humanity being holier than thou, supremely enlightened, and all around smug assholes was mind-boggling terrible, and far worse than I remember back when the series was still on the air.

That whole era needs to be flushed down the toliet as far as I'm concerned. It's certainly not something that should ever be revisited.

I know this may sound really hostile, but I gotta be honest, what the hell is with some people's incessant complaining about the fact that the show takes place before TOS? Like, I've seen some pretty insane shit in my day, but the crap that some Star Trek fans have come up with about Discovery takes the cake. Anything from secretly taking place after Nemesis and they just have to use a really old ship for some reason (because that makes total sense) to "they get stuck in a wormhole and it propels the old ship to Post-Nemesis" ( so Voyager but with MORE time travel), to "Vulcan Captain so the show starts in the 23rd century but then quickly goes to the 24th because she'd still be alive."

Like, I give the Star Wars fandom a lot of shit for their crazy-ass theories, but those are all insane! I mean the Vulcan one would be kind of cool but it can't be as simple as "BOOM WERE 130 YEARS LATER NOW."

More than that, why do people see this as such a bad thing? If you just move forward blindly with stuff like this you end up with the Star Wars EU problem where there are no more threats so you just have to keep inventing bigger and badder ones. That works a little bit better in fantasy-based scifi like Star Trek (at least there you can always pull out 'the Sith are back!') but it would be a little harder to pull off in Star Trek. The universe post-Nemesis is in a fairly good place (short of the destruction of Romulus) and unless you just pull another Dominion and invent a big-bad out of nowhere again all you're really left with is just kind of throwing all of that away so you can have another war with the Romulans or something.

I, for one, think the 23rd century is a nice break. Maybe I'm biased because I'm an TOS trekkie, but the universe in the 23rd century is pretty unexplored as far as Canon goes, the only things we really know for certain are the things that The Enterprise did in TOS and the movies, anything else is ripe for storytelling.

It would be Yuge! and Bigly!

What I am speaking of is the crap they did on DS9 and ENT, making it look just like a 1960's TV show. I am fine with inspired by, but if it looks like a 1960's TV show, IMO they have failed.
They've already said the visual design will have a different twist, or something like that. It won't look like the original.
