Person of Interest Season 4

The meeting reminded me of the one in Michael Mann's Heat, although this one turned nasty pretty quickly.

OK, that was a damn good episode. I loved the back-and-forth with Root and Harold (not quite sure how Harold recovered so quickly but what the hell) and how Root, in her own weird way, was trying to protect him. It would take a lot for her to go against the machine.

The sub-plot with bounty hunter was really predictable but like that John finally got a little lovin' at the end there! Don't like the con-artist woman, though--at least not in this episode. The actress is a bit too stiff, too forced. Nice to see Ato Essandoh from Copper again; he shows up in Blue Bloods from time to time also. I think he's a native New Yorker, so he's in the area. Kinda hoped he'd have more to do here but most of his time on-screen was spent just running away.

Still, a very enjoyable episode. I knew Harold couldn't die; he's too important for the show. But I feel so bad for him. He lost not only months of plans and strategizing but also the woman he really liked.

^That's what it seems like--or at least gathering funds/taking funds from the baddies to fight against it.

Harper, as a character, though just isn't doing it for me. It's like the writers are trying too hard, or perhaps it's the actress, or both.

That was a good one.
I'm a big fan of Katheryn Winnick so I did like seeing her here, even if the story wasn't anything spectacular. I don't mind Harper to much. So I wonder if The Machine is communicating with anyone else out there?
I really liked the other story. I felt so sorry for poor Harold, and Root is kinda scary.

First I felt a little bit disappointed that the trojan subplot was basically for nothing, but perhaps we are meant to feel like Harold at the moment. Did Root really destroy it?

It's kind of sad to see Root returning to her second season psychopathic self, surely she must've known that if the machine her Finch the woman's number then the machine wantted her to live. It is kind of nice to see a softer side to Reese though, but it's been obvious that he's got a thing for his therapist.

Knowing that certain death is the result of planting the Trojan Horse, I suspect she didn't destroy anything and will want to do it herself.

I'm hoping that she has something similar planned; I think that is what we will be leading up to.

Poor Harold. You can really feel his desperation here.

I don't think that would matter. As she explained it, the source of the danger was that Samaritan would know the Trojan horse was associated with Elizabeth's software, so it would investigate the people who've been associating with her and would thereby identify Harold and have him killed. Even if Root used the activation device instead of Harold, he's still the one who's on record as interacting with Elizabeth, so he's still the one who'd get exposed and assassinated. The only way he's safe is if the Trojan isn't activated at all.

That doesn't qite ring true, if Harold's life were at risk his number would've come up. It all sounds like conjecture on Root's part.

I wouldn't think his number would have come up until after he used the Trojan Horse?

The machine knew about the Trojan horse that's how Root knew about, if activating the Trojan horse meant Finch's death the machine would've known that as well.

They are getting closer and closer to blowing their covers and The Machine is in a very tight spot, but then again season finale isn't that far away.

KHAN!!!

Come on, I couldn't have been the only one who thought that....

;)

Chilling ending to that one, with the reflection in his dead eyes.

As for this week's episode, I am very curious to see what they have in store for us...

KHAN!!!

Come on, I couldn't have been the only one who thought that....

No more than a character named Jones would make me think of Cyrano. Khan is a common surname. And "Suleiman Khan" is quite a fitting name for a corporate giant. Suleiman the Magnificent was the greatest caliph of the Ottoman Empire, and of course Khan is a title of rulers. So this guy's parents gave him a name that basically pressured him to become great -- analogous to naming someone "Napoleon Caesar." I was thinking of that when I heard his name.

I was also thinking of how different Aasif Mandvi was from his Daily Show correspondent persona. I'm used to thinking of him as having a rather high-pitched voice, but he seems to play that up deliberately in his comedy work, since his voice sounded significantly lower and harsher here. Of course, I've seen him play a serious role before in The Last Airbender, but I guess I try not to think about that much. (I didn't think that movie was quite as awful as the reviews said, but it sure wasn't good.)

No offhand humorous observation left untrampled!

No doubt! Geez...

Actually I have a question about that episode: what was with the egg and the briefcase? Did I miss something?

Presumably the Machine needs an indestructible briefcase for some reason that will be revealed later. The Faberge egg was irrelevant to it, and leaving it intact somewhere would've left a trail that could be followed, hence it had to be discarded.
