News about "Death in Winter"! The P/C novel for which we've been waiting with bated breath has finally been reviewed by Trek Today. I don't want to get too heavily into spoilers here, but...

I'm new to the board but not new to Trek or P/C. I love them I say spoil us rotten mackillian! I've already ordered the book so it won't deter me from buying it.

The book was pretty good. A few parts where the dialogue made me laugh out loud (in a good way). As a whole, Crusher and Picard acted and though much as they did in the "A Time To..." series. But, finally, there's resolution that P/Cers will love. I actually want to read the next book with the next gen crew (not the Titan folks) so I can see where stuff will go now.

I'm not sure how much I should tell, though.

*rubs hands in glee* I love spoilers. Especially the good spoilers. Imagine if it had been the opposite and everyone had bought the book...

Re: other pairings. I have read some of Whoa Nellie's Crusher/chakotay pairings, and I have to confess I'm still not certain. Not that I'm a rabid J/Cer either (although a glance at my hard drive may seem to disprove that; I'm anti cliche if anything), but ... Then again, it's gotta be better than C/7. That really is disturbing. I do, however, find the idea of Picard/Janeway interesting although I've never read much of it past the odd snippet here and there... tho' I suppose the age gap is a bit much. If he's (canonically) virtually 20 years older than Beverly, he must be around 30 years older than Janeway... Then again, as Naraht is so fond of pointing out, if canon doesn't make sense, dump it!

Ideally, what I'd like is a fic that puts all of these characters together and explores their relationship with each other- both in 'canon'/ established pairings and as the more unusual. Tho not slash. Or C/7.

although, ideally it would also end with P/C anyway!!!

I can.

After 30 years of burying his feelings about Beverly or gonig about it rather indirectly, he'd have to really go for it to make it happen this time if he wanted her. He would have to go a bit further than "perhaps we should not be afraid to explore those feelings" if stuff like that has never worked before.

In matters of love you have to tell people how you REALLY feel ... something Picard had never really done. Maybe he realised that.

I agree with Grizzly that I'm not entirely sure whether Picard, whatever his feelings, would phrase things quite that way. But I shall reserve judgement until I read the book...
