P/C run amok...

If I were going to pair Beverly with anyone from the Star Trek universe for a "romantic fling" sort of story, it would be Julian Bashir... perhaps while he was interning on board the Enterprise before being posted to DS9.

As for Beverly/Chakotay, I must admit that I have always found him about as dull and wooden as a character can get. Really I can't imagine what she would see in him. But that's just me.

I've been fascinated with the TNG mirror universe idea ever since I read Diane Duane's Dark Mirror. It's wonderful to be able to give your imagination free rein. Let me just shamelessly post a link to my first mirror universe story in case anyone is interested. It is indeed P/C, but it isn't exactly your usual P/C, and it also features Jack/Bev:

"How to advance your career through marriage"

I don't like Chakotay either, but I'm not much into Beverly, too, so that doesn't make much of a difference  I just find the idea of such a relationship interesting because they have never met (at least not on screen).

Julian Bashir? Hmmm... another interesting idea! (though I must admit I'm not much into Bashir, either, OMG, you must think now that I dislike everyone except for Jean-Luc  )

Let me see... I've always wished for Odan to return (in a male body since Beverly didn't seem to appreciate it when he suddenly came into her office as a woman). I don't know, I liked that relationship somehow because it seemed they really got along with each other and stuff. :)

Everyone except Q and Jean-Luc, perhaps. That sounds accurate. ;)

Noooooooooo *cries* *lol* I *love* the TNG crew - except for Beverly  (I'd like her, really, if she wasn't that much into Jean-Luc  I want him for myself, I hate the idea of another woman getting close to him - and, Q's not a woman... but that's a different matter  )

I've always been curious: how did you come up with Beverly and Chakotay? I mean, I'd never have thought of this, I always thought J/C was the most common relationship when it comes to Chakotay (or perhaps Paris/Chakotay, too  ). Not that I mind your C/C idea, not in the slightest! I love to see Bev with another man, that keeps her away from Jean-Luc!

C/P is probably our favorite Voyager pairing (second to our own Voyager pairing of C/original character)--there's some really good C/P stuff out there . We never liked J/C--we like the individual characters but firmly believe that one of the few things TPTB did right in that series was never putting them in a canonical romantic relationship. There was some flirting with it, but in the end Chakotay tells her in a seventh season episode (time-travel so it's pre-Caretaker Janeway) "There are some lines we never cross."

That said, we find Chakotay     absolutely yummy. He's tall, dark, handsome, sensuous with a hint of depth and mystery and did we say    ? He had so much potential in Voyager and we were severely disappointed with what they did to that character, so we turned to fanfic to 'fix' that--do what TPTB wouldn't.

We started writing our own Voyager series Twist of Fate in late 2000, the first Twist of Fate story was Blessing of the Sky Spirits posted in January, 2001. While doing research for one of the stories in that series, we noticed that Startrek.com had 'adjusted' Chakotay's birth date to fix something TPTB did in Season Seven, which changed the dates that he attended Starfleet. That change put him at Starfleet Academy at the same time that Beverly was a med student and before she married Jack. Given our adoration of Chakotay  . . . that had potential . Since Beverly tells Deanna about a week-long, toe-curling affair that she had before she met Jack, we decided, given that Chakotay could curl our toes anyday (those dimples--), he was a perfect candidate for Beverly's toe-curler. We wrote an Academy Days story called Playing Doctor that told of that affair and then later, post-Endgame, we reunited them in Incendiary (Playing Doctor was posted as a prologue to Incendiary here) Playing Doctor/Incendiary

That's the PG-13 version. If you like the naughty bits in your romance, Whoa Nellie's Sci-Fi Romance Website has the full version and several other stories that couldn't be edited down enough to post here (too much smut, not enough plot ;)). Because it's virtually all NC-17 material and out of deference to BBS rules, we don't link directly there from here. On our author page is a link to our fanfiction.net bio page and the links to our websites is there--sorry about the inconvenience, we just don't want to offend anyone. The Picard and Vash Romance fanfiction site has stories that include the P/V pairing. Any stories that don't include P/V are on the Sci-Fi Romance website including two P/C (yes, Picard/Crusher) stories. One is the totally MU story we wrote called Career Advancement and there's no way we can link to that from here (HEAVY NC-17 ALERT!) and the other is our award-winning interpretation of the episode Attached and the 'dream' that they reference in that final scene. We did an edited down version for here:
Connections
but there's also an NC-17 version on the Sci-Fi Romance website.

Anyway, that's how Crusher/Chakotay came to be. Ironically, we've had to tell several fans of the pairing that it's not canon--we've gotten e-mails from people saying that they'd forgotten that those two knew each other. We take that as high praise since the two of them have never met in canon, but apparently our characterizations are good enough that people can truly see the two of them in our stories.

We have way too much fun with our fic sometimes . . .

Warmest wishes,
Whoa Nellie

^ I see... I still find the idea very interesting, it's always good to see someone who comes up with strange, but possible relationships. :D
I really have to read some Crusher/Chakotay stories. (NC-17 versions, of course, please  )

It's interesting... many P/Cers seem to have decided that the "toe-curler" was none other than Walker Keel. Although some of the stories are good, I dislike this idea; it makes Beverly seem a bit like chattel to have been passed around a group of friends like that, even over twenty years...

Yeah, that must be it. Star Trek fans like everything to be connected, I guess. *shrugs*

Yeah, it seems so :wtf:

It's usually an advantage, though, I mean, people with lots of imagination are more of a benefit than a burden.

My impression of that scene was that the individual in question didn't go on to have much of an impact on her life, which doesn't fit with Keel.

That argument is cogent, concise, and entirely convincing. Thank you. :)

/\ Who's in the avatar? (Since we're wandering off topic a bitf). Not a Doctor or a Jack of any description that I know of ... ;)

Very perceptive of you!

This is Sophia Forrester, a character from an anime series called The Last Exile, to which a friend is currently introducing me. I'm fond of her, and more to the point, I think I look quite a bit like her, so I thought that I would try an avatar.

And you all thought that I looked like Beverly, didn't you? :p

I did notice a similarity to the guise that you use for the Meet Ups. However, Bev on Picard's desk is still your true appearance, of course. :p
