P/C run amok...

News about "Death in Winter"! The P/C novel for which we've been waiting with bated breath has finally been reviewed by Trek Today. I don't want to get too heavily into spoilers here, but...

<span class="spoiler"><font class="small">Spoiler:</font><hr /><span> The news is good. :)</span><hr /></span>

^^ I'm trying really, really hard <span class="spoiler"><font class="small">Spoiler:</font><hr /><span>not to squeal with excitement! I skimmed the review and it looks promising... </span><hr /></span>

<span class="spoiler"><font class="small">Spoiler:</font><hr /><span> Hmm... I read the review and I'm not very happy... of course... I'm not sure if I'll even buy that book. I might feel tempted to throw it out of the next window. *lol* </span><hr /></span>

You do know that you can get the book in an electronic form right now, right?

I snagged it from fictionwise in mobipocket form today.

I'm glad I read fast. :)

I'm new to the board but not new to Trek or P/C. I love them :) I say spoil us rotten mackillian! I've already ordered the book so it won't deter me from buying it.

<span class="spoiler"><font class="small">Spoiler:</font><hr /><span>P/C'ers will squeal with joy at the end.

The book was pretty good. A few parts where the dialogue made me laugh out loud (in a good way). As a whole, Crusher and Picard acted and though much as they did in the "A Time To..." series. But, finally, there's resolution that P/Cers will love. I actually want to read the next book with the next gen crew (not the Titan folks) so I can see where stuff will go now.

I'm not sure how much I should tell, though.

*taps fingers*</span><hr /></span>

Thanks for sharing mackillian! :) I'm about being spoiled rotten so whatever you want to share I'd enjoy. If there is anything 'squee' worthy feel free to share that in particular ;) That of course is just my two cents.

Okay. The following is "squee-worthy".

If you want to squee all on your own, then don't read it.

<span class="spoiler"><font class="small">Spoiler:</font><hr /><span>I mean it.</span><hr /></span>

<span class="spoiler"><font class="small">Spoiler:</font><hr /><span>No, seriously, I mean it. This will be an actual sentence from the book.</span><hr /></span>

<span class="spoiler"><font class="small">Spoiler:</font><hr /><span> "Lowering his mouth to her ear, he wispered, 'I love you, Beverly. I have always loved you. And I always will.' It wasn't something she didn't know. However, Picard had never said it that way--so urgently, so fervently."</span><hr /></span>

<span class="spoiler"><font class="small">Spoiler:</font><hr /><span>Let me just remind you, these are two separate sentences.</span><hr /></span>

<span class="spoiler"><font class="small">Spoiler:</font><hr /><span>"Then she raised her perfect mouth to his and kissed him--long and passionately."</span><hr /></span>

Sitting at the computer with a big daft grin on my face. Can't wait for the book now !

Thanks for the spoilers mackillian- made my
Friday night even better than usual. :)

*rubs hands in glee* I love spoilers. Especially the good spoilers. Imagine if it had been the opposite and everyone had bought the book...

Re: other pairings. I have read some of Whoa Nellie's Crusher/chakotay pairings, and I have to confess I'm still not certain. Not that I'm a rabid J/Cer either (although a glance at my hard drive may seem to disprove that; I'm anti cliche if anything), but ... Then again, it's gotta be better than C/7. That really is disturbing. I do, however, find the idea of Picard/Janeway interesting although I've never read much of it past the odd snippet here and there... tho' I suppose the age gap is a bit much. If he's (canonically) virtually 20 years older than Beverly, he must be around 30 years older than Janeway... Then again, as Naraht is so fond of pointing out, if canon doesn't make sense, dump it! ;)

Ideally, what I'd like is a fic that puts all of these characters together and explores their relationship with each other- both in 'canon'/ established pairings and as the more unusual. Tho not slash. Or C/7.
*goes off to mumble*

although, ideally it would also end with P/C anyway!!! :) :) :)

OK folks. that was a seriously random posting. Put it down to a not-quite-with-it-day...and consider I've apologised!
*back to lurkdom*

I actually wanted someone to spill the beans. It would base my decision on whether to read the book.

Now I've decided so THANK YOU!

:D

Yeah mackillian! You rock! I'm about any spoilers you want to dish out and the last ones were juicy :) I cannot wait to get my copy of the book in the mail now :)

I have to say, I can not really imagine Picard saying that. Too direct!

Thank you. Someone finally says what I am thinking.

<span class="spoiler"><font class="small">Spoiler:</font><hr /><span> Thank whoever there is that books are non-canon. </span><hr /></span>

I can.

After 30 years of burying his feelings about Beverly or gonig about it rather indirectly, he'd have to really go for it to make it happen this time if he wanted her. He would have to go a bit further than "perhaps we should not be afraid to explore those feelings" if stuff like that has never worked before.

In matters of love you have to tell people how you REALLY feel ... something Picard had never really done. Maybe he realised that.

Plus it has to be taken within the context of the scene in the book (which I have read).

Oh my, oh my!

Thank you for the spoilers, mackillian, and welcome to Dandelion Wine. It's good to see that this book has brought all the P/Cers out of the woodwork! :)

I agree with Grizzly that I'm not entirely sure whether Picard, whatever his feelings, would phrase things quite that way. But I shall reserve judgement until I read the book...
