It’s not a Star Trek thread if Star Wars isn’t brought up at some point![]()
I'm starting an internet correspondence course. For only 49.99 a session you can learn all about Star Wars! You'll be a Jedi Master of the Sith in no time!I wish I knew more about Star Wars so I could keep up with the last few posts. I don't dislike SW but it's not my thing.
With all due respect @Rahul, this is a very negative interpretation of events. For starters, the article you quote states this:Yeah. To be quite honest - I find it quite fascinating how harsh J.J. Abrams treated Lucas. He was his idol. They met publicly before Abrams directed "Star Trek(2009)". And that movie was very obviously inspired by Star Wars.
And then this numbnut completely shunned Lucas while doing "Force Awakens"? Like, what the hell? I mean, I know Abrams is extremely big on "secrecy" on his projects. But not involving the guy who invented it all, not at any level? Dick move.

Though apparently they at least talked this time, in preparation for Star Wars episode 9:

Lucas states that his involvement would "make myself miserable." He had to distance himself from the franchise because the fan base had treated him like a punching bag. They made his life miserable, and people now have the audacity to demand he comes back to a fan base that abused him?“There is no such thing as working over someone’s shoulder,” Lucas said. “I knew that I couldn’t be involved. All I’d do is make
them miserable. I’d make myself miserable. It would probably ruin a vision — J.J. has a vision, and it’s his vision.”
SourceNow that we've watched the first teaser, we know at least ONE of the things Lucas intended for Episode IX will make it into The Rise of Skywalker: the return of the Emperor.
They talked plenty before episode 7. I believe it was Lucas who chose Abrams as director. When the original writer(Arndt) of Force Awakens left/was let go, and Abrams took over as writer(in addition to already being director) and rewrote a new script, he went to Lucas's house and personally got his blessing.Though apparently they at least talked this time, in preparation for Star Wars episode 9
"Don't get high on your own supply" -Captain Jean-Luc "Scarface" Picard
Stewart: [Picard's] discontent and unsettled nature is present the moment the camera rolls at the beginning. I hope it will be evident that all is not well with him despite living in a beautiful place and having a good job making gorgeous wine and working closely to beautiful Romulan people.
If so, I find this incredibly intriguing as a premise.
Ohh that's an excellent theory. It might be that we've discussed this somewhere, but I find a tiny detail in the recent TVLine Picard cast interview to be enormously intriguing:
What this suggests to me is that following the Hobus disaster, Earth (and presumably many other Federation worlds) took in Romulan refugees and supported their settlement in existing cities across the planet. What appeared in the trailer to be Picard walking with a backpack through an alien plaza is actually La Barre, France, and the Vulcanoid denizens actually those who resettled there after the catastrophe.
If so, I find this incredibly intriguing as a premise.

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.
It's like a hydra.No. No. Not another. In the same day?
