Open Speculation about "Star Trek: Picard"

Not sure if anyone's posted this but I thought I'd drop it here before I head out the door. We have a bit of news from IGN about Riker and Troi in the new series that I at least have not seen before:

Looks like they've left Starfleet. Or are at least doing something "non-military."

Speculate away!
Back door pilot for that At Home With the Rikers sitcom Frakes pitched years ago! Where they live on a Starbase and Next Gen characters come to visit each week.

I'd watch.

Whatever is going on between the Romulans and The Borg, it would be nice to have the Cardiassians under Gul Ducat involved somehow in the background trying to keep the Romulan empire as a going concern. He'd be at least an Legate (Admiral) by now.

Noooooooooo way would Dukat be in any position in the Cardassian Military. This is the guy who had the Cardassians join the Dominion, which led to Cardassia being decimated a few years later at the end of the war. He'd be vilified and no one would would ever trust his judgment again.

And he's probably still with the Pah'Wraiths. And insane. Unchecked insanity usually gets worse over time, not better. Especially since he's now basically probably become a demon. He should be worse than ever. And crazier than ever.

Dukat is dead, or at least in the Pah’Wraith realm

I think he's still "alive" in the same sense that Sisko still is. Except he's with the Pah'Wraiths instead of the Prophets. He's Sisko's opposite counterpart in every way, so that would make sense. At least that's the way I've always read it, anyway.
There are still a few missing story beats between "fell down a fiery chasm while serving as a manifestation of the Pah'Wraiths" and "he should have gotten a promotion by now".

I don't think Dukat can really come back with The Sisko coming back. That that is something that would make an AWESOME short series or moving in itself.

I'd prefer to simply leave Dukat in hell where he belongs.

Besides, the Prophets can come back anytime they want, but IIRC, the Pah Wraiths are sealed off. And since the book Winn used to bring them back is also gone, well, that as they say is that.

STO used to have a mission where that Half-Bajoran daughter he had (not Ziyal obviously, but the one he had with the lady in his cult) tried to resurrect him. It was.. interesting.

Complete with a Jazz Band.
