Only Murders in The Building

When season 2 picked up from the season 1 cliffhanger, they seemed to forget that no time had passed and important characters like Mabel's friend were suddenly gone (and poorly explained away) even though she was the biggest part of the cliffhanger. I wonder if the same thing will happen with season 4, such as how the musical should still be going on.

Unfortunately, I'd had the ending spoiled for me a few weeks ago, when I saw someone mention "Which of the Pickwit Triplets Did It" was already on streaming, saw the season 3 score had also been also been released already, and one of the track titles narrowed down the possible culprits down to, basically, one and a half. I console myself that I probably would've figured it out at the beginning of the episode from how half-assed the full confession was but, still, it hasn't been a fun thing to be carrying around.
Following up, a "deluxe version" of the soundtrack with all the songs in addition to the score was released today, and there's an error on the iTunes version, where the Paul Rudd and Martin Short versions of the final song of the play are switched (or I'm much worse at distinguishing voices than I thought).

I thought that "Scott Bakula says hi" was fairly final.
I'm not sure about that, especially with the comments from both Oliver and Mabel about L.A. Also Sazz's shooting - whether she was the intended victim or she was mistaken for Charles - likely is tied to her and Charles' Hollywood history. With Joy working with Scott Bakula in Hollywood makes it seem likely to me that she will be back.

YOU BASTARDS.

They shot Sazz! The implication is she's dead but she damn well better not be! Even if that would be an excellent motivator for season four.

BASTARDS.

As predicted, Donna was indeed the poisoner and I wasn't at all surprised Cliff turned out to be the real killer considering all of the season themes and obvious hints leading up to the reveal. In fact, they were so obvious, I'm surprised no one saw it sooner. Not a big deal, but it all makes sense in the end.

Even though it wouldn't make sense, I would've loved to see Amy Ryan, Nathan Lane, and Jaboukie Young-White just one each this season.

Especially for an even nonsensical meeting between Teddy and Matthew.

Strike that, I'm also sad Charles didn't get any resolution with Joy. I guess they're saving that for next season instead of a quick wrap-up (which is fair)

Godsdamn right it was! I think people would riot if it hadn't been!

I, too, thought that until half a beat later when I realized the obvious.

Re your first point I would, sadly, point out that the show is called Only Murders in the Building so it doesn't look good.

Guessing there'll be a cryptic message left in blood on the floor by the time they're found.

I can definitely see some of the show being set in LA next season.

SPOILERS FOR ALL THREE SEASONS...

I want to discuss this show and seeing as this thread is recent I hope it's okay to wade in here. Firstly let me say I enjoy this show. It doesn't take itself too seriously and nor should I. But... I can't help but feel something is amiss and wanted to see if other people felt this.

It's hard for me to put my finger on it, so it's hard to also articulate what I feel. But it feels oddly disjointed at times. Like a character will be there, then won't, then is back again. Sometimes they feel like they're in a cupboard, and out they pop (Jane Lynch feels very this way). Andrea Martin she's there, then she's just gone. And I know characters come and go, but I wonder if it's actor schedules somewhat. Because Andrea Martin in particular I felt abrupt. It doesn't feel like it "flows" at times. Flow is probably what I'm trying to articulate.

I also find it can be so funny, bitingly sarcastic then go through periods of quiet drudgery in its scenes.

It just feels a bit patch work quilt at times, if that makes sense? Again, I do enjoy it... but I feel something jars and I can't put my finger on it. Whether it's deliberate, actor schedules, different writers... not sure. The closest thing I can compare it to is when Arrested Development came back, and that was due to actor schedules in some of its weirdness.

Selena Gomez's romantic interests disappearing between seasons and maybe there's a text about them breaking up...

Maybe she's murdering them?

I just started season 3. I'm channeling Dwight a little here. Trying to figure out which character is most medium suspicious. Like, most suspicious is the Meryl Streep character. But it can't be her because it's too obvious, she'll probably get accused in episode 6.

Who is the character they have met who is not an obvious suspect, but we have no solid reason to think they wouldn't be the killer? That's probably the killer.

Maybe the Asian starlet? She's the one I most medium suspect, just like Phyllis' character in the Office murder mystery.

It's hard not to think like that, particularly after a few seasons. Similarly if they find the killer in episode 6, it ain't them. Episode 7, it won't be them. Episode 8, nope... I may believe it in 9 or 10.

They accused the Asian starlet in episode 3 so not her.

At this point I’m leaning toward the guy players by the actor who played Craig Kettelman in BCS. He’s around and not obviously a suspect. He has the same status now as the season 1 and 2 killers.

I will say though, I’m thinking at this point there was no first murder attempt. He passed out on stage due to the drug cocktail he was taking.

I guess I’ll just see. Wonder if there’s a season 4 teaser after.

But it really is just like that old west murder mystery in The Office. “That’s how I know the murderer to be Phyllis. She’s the most medium suspicious.”

I’m caught up now. It wasn’t who I guessed but it followed the formula.

Can’t believe who the victim for next season is. Looks like the starting point of the investigation will be what she tried to write in blood.

Definitely has a strong Only Murders in the Building meets Knives Out vibe and that's a very good thing.

Helps to have Mandy fucking Patinkin as the detective! That alone sells me on it.
