One Giant Leap

If there is another thread around here, I missed it. I'm putting this in General Trek, due to its scope and how it and Trek have influenced each other. But has anyone else realized that today is the 41 anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing? Truly a "giant leap for Mankind."

Let's go back. And beyond.

Thanks for the reminder, I had forgotten. I do have a pretty good excuse though, today we welcomed my 4th grandchild into the world.

Speaking of how Trek influenced the space-race, and technology likemobile phones and the like...surely, Starfleet are in breach of the Prime directive? :-P

Just to clarify - with time zone differences and all that - regarding "today."

The actual moon landing occurred on July 20, 1969. Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon on July 21, 1969.

I remember it well - a beautiful summer night in Western New York. We were having my Grandmother's 70th birthday party in our back yard. One young boy excused himself from the festivities to go and watch man land on the moon. A tremendous day all-around, I would say.
