OMG! B&B have gone MAD!!! BORG!!!

Final evidence that the producers are creatively bankrupt. I'd like to think that this was a hoax, but then again, I also thought that the character roster for Enterprise was a hoax when it was first leaked.

... signature B&B Trek. Hasn't this what ENT has always been about? Didn't you notice?

Didn't you notice the same Ferrengi?
The same phasers, force fields, photons, Prime D., etc?
The same Voyager plots?
The same cloaked Romulans?
The same advanced technology?

I could go on and on. ENT is about giving Trek lite. I mean, you guys are suprised? We so called BASHERS have been pointing out all sorts of problems in the stories and production that point right too the continuation of ENT as it is. It's too late to change really, though a major shake-up may come.

... this is what ENT is about. Complain all you want, but in a sense bringing out the Borg on ENT was destined to happen if you have read anything about how ENT is being written and produced.

Oh, and if the only thing that upsets you about a TV show is this... well, I'd be more concerned about the writing. The stories. The characters. The premise. Instead... it's a mish-mash of Trek 'elements' slapped together to be 'B&B Trek'... for lack of a better term.

I caught the last half hour of the Tholian show. Nice ships... action. Hey.. can't loose there. Though in Danials room I feared T'Pol might give Archer a 'photon cleaning' if you get me. Mannn... why is she attracted to human males who treat her like dirt? OK, he's been nicer lately... well, his past actions still count.

I find this thread more of a sign the people here really don't care about good stories... just Trekkie minutia. :(

I just came in after reading the Trek today news. This just solidifies (even more) every bashers reasons for hating ENT! I hope all you gushers are happy with your little show!

You have to remember what was going on in FC. The Enterprise was hardly working when they left the 21st Century, and they would have presumed that every drone onboard the sphere would have beamed over onto the Enterprise.

Debris from the Borg Sphere would have been the last thing on my mind, if I was in the crews shoes.

It should have been the first thing on your mind. When those Vulcans come around they'll be scanning for high technology - remember, they're looking for whoever made that warp signature. You don't want to leave any surprises in orbit for them.

The Enterprise crew had a lot of time to work with before the Borg started disabling the ship. They beamed down, checked things out, and then beamed Picard and Data back up to the ship (plus Lily and Doc Crusher, and they probably beamed a big chunk of the engineering staff down, plus equipment).

They did quite a bit before the borg started disabling the ship, and Enterprise would have been fully capable of picking off the last of the debris in that timeframe. They couldn't have made any assumptions about the number of borg who beamed over, since we're talking about before they knew any borg had beamed anywhere. Even afterwards they would have had reason to be thorough - after seeing the borg launch the sphere, travel through time, beam over, hack Data, signal with the deflector... so forth, Picard and company would probably get the hint that the borg had contingency plans and so they should be thorough in mopping them up.

And let's not forget that Enterprise was more than capable of beaming personnel, firing quantum torpedos, manuevering itself around the moon to conceal itself and travelling through time at the end of First Contact, which isn't exactly my definition of "hardly working". It's safe to assume that they had at least a few ship systems online, and with the Phoenix launching in the morning and the Vulcans arriving at night, that gives Enterprise and company quite a bit of clean-up time afterwards before the Vulcans show up.

And clean they would have. Leaving borg components in orbit, or carelessly letting a huge frigging chunk of debris fall through the atmosphere, could screw everythng up.. The whole point is the make the Vulcans think that the humans achieved warp flight, preferably without the assistence of swedish guys with skin irritations.

If this synopsis is legit, it operates under the assumption that the Enterprise crew didn't do their jobs.

Rust Red - chapter 2

It's not violating continuity or anything - the only continuity it is violating is fan expectations and fan fiction that has been derived from speculation.

Now, I know that second season wasn't its best, but calling Star Trek: The Next Generation "fan fiction" is a little harsh...! :D

I'd like to hope that they could pull this one off in such a way as to not only plug certain continuity holes, but also to restore the Borg's long-lost aura of mystery and terror. If anyone else were in charge of the show, I'd have a basis for such hope.

Ok I've just had a flashback  . I remember just when Season 2 had gone into production, there was an interview with Berman. He actually mentioned the possibility of Picard appearing in Enterprise (Guinan also). Perhaps "Regeneration" is the beggining of a horrible arc, that will somehow tie into the TCW.

Oh and on a final note. They should rename this episode to: Rehash.

Matt.

No they should name it REGURGITATION. I doubt after the flop that Nemesis was, Patrick Steward would come any where near ENT. the man does have a career to think of.

*If* they were going to use the borg at all I'm glad this is the approach they're taking.

I would prefer no borg but I'll wait and see. This could be a goood episode.

I'll give it a chance. But it is skating right to the edge of the point of no return for me. If this is a total slap in the face. I'm done with ENT and will be decanonized for me. The Borg debris does sound like partialy legit but woulnd't it have been something that they would have looked at after First Contact? You fans can put whatever spin on it you want but its still a hackneyed idea and terribly out of place.

And I am not Spock I think this is like Sadaam practicaly giving us his weapons of mass destruction. And if you guys are planning a Trek coup make sure you pick up that guy who's running the Twilight Zone. He'd be real helpful with the "provisional government." :D:D:D

WTF!! This can't be! <reads the entire BIG synopsis>

Nope. Didn't look like a APRIL FOOL's story ...

:borg:

Well hell ... Ahem.
1. Someone here DID wanted to see them Borgs right? So ... :p
2. Someone here DID wanted to see more about Earth right? So ... :p

So here we got an episode that will satisfy both of those wishes. Can't say that B&B weren't listening to us now. Hahahahahahaha

GODDAMNIT!

Just when things were starting to look up for Enterprise, this shit has to happen. I'm normally a supporter of Enterprise, but this fucking sucks! It's wrong, it's terrible, and it's stupid.

<watches people fume over the borgyness>

I've been looking forward to this episode though. (e.g I knew at least there'd be a drone in space left over from first contact - plot potential)

I wonder how if at all these borg will link in with the "dead stop" station?

I'm groaning like everyone else, but this plot idea is actually pretty realistic, so maybe it will work, but why oh why do they resort to things like this? it's just so fucking lazy...

what's the ruckus in here? the story sounds pretty good.

or ... am i just still on a high (ENT standards of course) from 'future tense'?

well, wait and see.

I think that the anti-B&B crowd is wrong on this one. UPN has no choice now but to try and boost interest in its flagship show. Bringing in the most prominent villains not yet used is the best way to do this. And please, let's be honest... they do appear to have found a reasonable way to do this, haven't they? By bringing in the First Contact :borg: Borg sphere they are meshing the Enterprise timeline well with established canon.

Granted, Picard, et al, had no knowledge of the Borg in "Q Who?", and this plot line would seem to contradict that... but it is pretty obvious that the Borg, while failing to DESTROY Earth's future in "First Contact" did successfully CHANGE it. Picard, Riker, etc., went back and interacted with the Montanans... and so what is the big deal about exploring more ways in which the future was changed by that movie?

...that is, aside from those of you who will look for any excuse to complain... ;)

We're all very pleased with it™ thanks. :borg:

Is there some sort of size comparison issue between Trek shows I was unaware off?

ummm, yeah - because every starship thats falling apart at the seams can work out the borg time-travel system and implement it after flying behind the moon.

if the sensors were working well enough to do that picking up advanced tech on an unadvanced world and then beaming it up would be easy.

Debris from the Borg Sphere would have been the last thing on my mind, if I was in the crews shoes.

would've been the first thing imo, they had a duty to protect the timeline otherwise why not go find the vulcan scoutship and just tell them to make contact?

It shows a certain lack of effort to introduce a borg story but if it is stand alone and just a bit of a fan boy homage to FC then what is the problem?

WAIT!!! I have just read the synopsis (which I really should have done first). Now if they made this a bit of a tongue in cheek mystery (in that we know whats going on but they don't) then it would be fine but if they are gonig to turn it into a full on Borg confrontation then WTF!!!?!?!?

NX-01 encounters a borgified transport? NO!!!!!!!!!!!
People get assimilated? NO!!!!!!!!!!
Hey! Maybe section 31 will turn up and steal the bodies and the technology!?!?!?!?

Even die-hard ENT fans don't like this idea...

I wouldn't call myself 'die-hard' but...

I don't think ANYONE will like this news

I DO!!!! If it's done properly, and covered up at the end continuity shouldn't be a problem. There were rumors of a cybernetic lifeform long before the borg were encountered.

Don't you get it, man?? They may be able to cover their tracks continuity-wise, but to the majority of Trek fans, this will signal that B&B lack the originality/creativity to allow Enterprise to flourish on it's own power. Instead of introducing the Borg, why don't they bring back the Silent Enemy aliens?

We were promised something new and exciting... ENT was billed as "Not your father's Trek" and 5 seconds into the world premeire, B&B cough up a Klingon. Since then, we've seen phase pistols, tractor beams, replicators, force feilds, holodecks and Ferengi.... and I'm sure I missed a few too... Now we're getting the Borg...

Instead of showing us what every one was doing in 2152, why don't they show us a little bit of who isn't around in 2372? Instead of showing us how technology evolved and what we got from other species, why don't they show us what's obsolete and something totally different that performs the same function? And make it interesting!!

I'm totally disenfranchised by this news... I couldn't wait to get back in here and talk about how good Future Tense was with all of you only to hear this... :(
