OMG! B&B have gone MAD!!! BORG!!!

oh my God, Oh My God, OH MY GOD! I knew they would have the Borg in Enterprise, and I knew it would be soon!
I'm upset that they are so out of ideas, and so desperate for a fan increase, that they are resorting to writing stories involving the Borg... but the discovery of the wreckage of the Borg Sphere from first contact does sound interesting... and Borg running out of control and assimilating this Earth ((maybe even Enterprise)) sounds interesting!
...but this show me that Berman and Braga, cannot write any stories that stand on their own... (they didn't write Future Tense or Cease Fire, and those stories were both great!)
AAAAAAAAH :borg:!

The ONLY way they can appease everyone is if, it's erased. IE: Temporal Cold War. Someone goes back and erases the episode once it took place, like Voyager's "Year of Hell".
Actually, I think the almighty reset button might make it worse, i'm really sick of that button... :borg: I think following up on First Contact sounds interesting, but Borg on Enteprise, OH GOD! I'm shocked at the thought! :borg:

AS a cute little one off offering, just to show us what they were like then, I can just about live with it.
Unfortunately I very much doubt thats what this will be.
If the rating go up god help us, they'll probably start popping up in every other episode :(

I'll admit that Regeneration sounds very good, but that's not the point, like I said. If Regeneration is a one time Borg pop, then I can live with it.

Next they are going to go back and CGI borg into a TOS episode. ;)

Somebody shoot this guy before he gives B&B some ideas!! .... ;)

"I've found the cure for [Borg assimilation]--It's adrenaline, Jim!"

Unless I missed something, the writer(s) of Regeneration have yet to be identified. It could be Shiban for all we know.

Cheers

Alex

I'm groaning like everyone else, but this plot idea is actually pretty realistic, so maybe it will work, but why oh why do they resort to things like this? it's just so fucking lazy...
Agreed! As lazy as it is, the plot idea does sound interesting! I HATE B&B for their laziness ... every time one of their shows start failing, they always do a Borg Episode.. i.e. Borg Episodes in Voyager..
AAAAAAAAH! :( :borg:

I was intially furious, but apon reading the description, I actually think there's a chance for Braga to repair the damage done in 'Dark Frontier'- to give an explanation to how the Hansen's knew about the Borg. It will also deepen the 'First Contact' story arc.

They may screw it up royally, but handled correctly, it could be a monumental cross-series/movie puzzle peice.

Exactly my thoughts, too.

I don't know what's more funny. The Borg on ENT or the fact that some people are actually surprised by this news. ;)

The Borg to appear on Enterprise. Lovely
B&B must think they'll get a ratings boost from them.
Not Bloody Likely.

It was only a matter of time before the Borg would show up--those of us who saw the writing on the wall early in this lackluster series predicted these kinds of events and often were told we were simply "bashing" the show, rather than correctly measuring the extraordinarily purile lengths B & B would go to in putting drek on the air. I'm glad I stopped watching after the first season. However, the timing of this does surprise me, as I didn't expect the Borg to show up until much later. I think B & B are pretty frosted about the mediocre-to-poor ratings for ENT, as well as the debacle that NEM has been at the U.S. box office. At this point, they're really looking for ways to stick it to hardcore fans who "betrayed" them by turning ENT off and avoiding NEM repeat viewings.

BTW, a lot of people see the connection to John W. Campbell's short story "Who Goes There?" and the various incarnations of "The Thing." I see another, creepier connection, too--that of the debris from the shuttle being found with body parts of the astronauts inside. I've noticed that ENT often takes names and ideas from headlines--"Canamahr" sounds likes a permutation of "Kandahar"--and it wouldn't surprise if someone was watching the news and thought, "Hey, what if they found debris from that Borg sphere that blew up in FC?" The whole idea kind of disgusts me, even if it's poor timing.

From what I've read, the episode looks good. I don't see much difference in how they treated the Ferengi. The basis for the Borg being their is cannonical, and the plot sounds interesting. The only valid criticism might be that Earth isn't supposed to know about the Borg until Q shows them to Picard, but Voyager already blew away that idea, so there is nothing revisionist in this episode. I'll look forward to watching it.

Even die-hard ENT fans don't like this idea...

I wouldn't call myself 'die-hard' but...

I don't think ANYONE will like this news

I DO!!!! If it's done properly, and covered up at the end continuity shouldn't be a problem. There were rumors of a cybernetic lifeform long before the borg were encountered.

David

Don't you get it, man?? They may be able to cover their tracks continuity-wise, but to the majority of Trek fans, this will signal that B&B lack the originality/creativity to allow Enterprise to flourish on it's own power. Instead of introducing the Borg, why don't they bring back the Silent Enemy aliens?

We were promised something new and exciting... ENT was billed as "Not your father's Trek" and 5 seconds into the world premeire, B&B cough up a Klingon. Since then, we've seen phase pistols, tractor beams, replicators, force feilds, holodecks and Ferengi.... and I'm sure I missed a few too... Now we're getting the Borg...

Instead of showing us what every one was doing in 2152, why don't they show us a little bit of who isn't around in 2372? Instead of showing us how technology evolved and what we got from other species, why don't they show us what's obsolete and something totally different that performs the same function? And make it interesting!!

I'm totally disenfranchised by this news... I couldn't wait to get back in here and talk about how good Future Tense was with all of you only to hear this... :(

[/QUOTE]

They aren't doing this bec. they aren't letting ENT stand on its own. They are doing this because its a retelling of a classic scifi tale using Trek's biggest monster/villain to date. Doctor Who did it VERY successfully in just two episodes of "The Seeds of Doom," in Season 13. It went down as one of the classic Doctor Who episodes. Read the synopsis. Does it sound familar?

It's a retelling of "The Thing." If that's the case, it should be very good. Both big screen versions of The Thing and Doctor Who: The Seeds of Doom rank among my favorite scifi stories. Plus it ties up one of the biggest plot holes left in First Contact...what happened to the debris?

What is this madness?
Seriously.
Enterprise ought to be able to stand on its own, without the Big Bads from other series. Especially not the Borg.

Personally, I'm kind of split 3 ways on this. Intellectually, I think the episode sounds interesting enough that I'm willing to give it a chance. On a gut level, the whole thing stinks and sticks in my craw. And there's also a voice in the back of my head screaming "HOAX!"

And, for no reason at all, I am also seeing an image of Archer's head and shoulders on the Boeg Queen's cybernetic torso.

Did I mention madness at the beginning of this post.....? :D

Dont be suprised it the word borg isnt mentioned.
It might tie back in with the repair station in Dead Stop.
I doubt if the borg get on enterprise.
I suspect this is going to be an earth based episode and you see the "borgified" transport going past enterprise on its way to earth.

And yeah it could be hoax to drum up interest for may sweeps.. if it is looks like it worked..

:p

I'm one of the few people (on this board, at least) who enjoys Braga's scripts, but this is very dangerous ground. If they don't pull this off exactly right...[shudder]

On the other hand, maybe if we complain loudly enough, we can stop it from being made?

I'll agree with you in this regard. And actually from the description there isn't any indication of any drones running around. As long as there is no Queen, no assmiliations, none of the regualr stuff. Just a wreckage...I might be able to swallow it. I'm REALLY keeping my fingers crossed that this MIGHT have something to lend in the TCW in that since the sphere went back in time somehow that information is used to the advantage of moving the plotline along.

but LET ME SAY THIS.....if this episode suck, if its just a grab for ratings I'm gonna be SERIOUSLY PISSED.
