Official Smallville Season Eight Spoiler Thread

That's for sure...as Yoda has stated in all his wisdom, clouded the Future is. That seems to sum up Smallville's future all right.

Good description, but as long as their ratings stay stable I think Smallville's future is secure at least in CW's eyes.

There's every chance that in his future there will be no Superman, if we consider the man he is growing into because of the lessons he has endured. Smallville is a massively diverged tangent reality from what is required.
I dont disagree, the Smallville of this TV show has not been kind to Clark, his parents were a bit over protective, made him afraid to use his powers, its no wonder he has grown up like he has.

So previously his parents were too doddering and senile to even attempt to reign him in?

My Mommy made me a Superman costume when I was little, why didn't Martha make one for Clark?

O!

Bart from Ollie's Justice league is from the Future! I mean that wasn't a line to charm Chloes cardigan off was it? he might be legion? I noticed in the add for Legion of Three Worlds that the Time trapper and Xse(sp?) (Barts Cousin) is hiding in the back ground trying not to look like she's secretly the most important person on the page.

I never said that, but thats only part of the problem, Lana a part of it as well, along with the guilt of the meteor infected people, his un easy relationship with his dad doesn't help much either

What I think is going to happen:

During the course of their Lois & Clark escapades this season, Lois will learn of Clark's powers. Lois will be the driving force behind him becoming Superman in the Smallville reality.

If Lois is going to push Clark into being Superman, she'd better do it quick. This time it really looks like the end for CW. As in not surviving past the 2008-2009 season. It's about Tori Spelling, but the middle of the article starts talking about the CW in general.

future

...You may remember that, back on May 29th, I wrote that the talk of Hollywood was when, not if, The CW's Dawn Ostroff would be fired. After all, she got her job by the skin of her teeth after programming as badly as she could at the old UPN and brown-nosing Les Moonves who was making a power-play move on Warner Bros' Barry Meyer. Well, I recently learned that Ostroff managed to buy herself more time on the back of 90210. Insiders tell me that her future, and the entire future of the fledgling network, rests on the teen show's fall ratings. As a source explained, "Since Gossip Girl opened with a 3.1 for women 18-to-34 and still can't get ratings, then 90210 has got to open with a '4' in front of it for women 18-to-34 if The CW and Dawn are going to survive into 2009."

So it all rests on the exciting new spinoff of 90210. It may get decent (for CW) numbers for its premiere on September 2 since there's no competition, but Gossip Girl's ratings fell soon enough. With all its hype prior to last season, it only premiered to 3.65 million viewers on a night with no first run network competition. It got steadily worse from there. Between sports preemptions (wasn't the merger supposed to stop that?) and not having 100 percent nationwide coverage (wasn't CW supposed to be in all markets?) the live ratings for GG fell into the crap heap. Only its 18-34 female demo kept it alive. Not that I care, but I'm royally ticked off that Supernatural won't get its fifth and last season. They've had a five year arc planned from the beginning. I'd better enjoy it while it lasts. Somehow I don't see the new 90210 becoming the toast of the town.

Has there been a worse network president than Ostroff? Obviously, as a Trekkie she has a really sour place in my heart to begin with, but that's beside the point.

She's like totally oblivious. And her long laundry list of mistakes speaks for itself.

I suppose after CW is canceled they'll bring her over to CBS and she can ruin that. (Not that it needs the help, mind you.)

Yeah I read that story on 90210 and Spelling and laughed...CW can't catch a break and the way they run that network maybe they don't deserve it. Boy...the negativity in this thread is overwhelming and funny as hell!!! As I said before there hasn't been this much fan concern over an upcoming season before at least in this fourm, I can't vouch for Smallville fan sites like Kryptonsite and others. Are we just cynical folks?

Yeah. I don't think Kryptonsite is a great example of what a fan site "should" be. I've tried to post there, but sometimes trying to have a civilized conversation with 15 year old girls can be ... "tenuous" at best.

Haha.

How bad is it there? I've never been. Are you not allowed to post stuff about what you don't like?

^ They've said I'm too critical of Smallville if that tells you anything.

They once admitted that they send people into our discussion threads to criticize us for not liking them.

I hate boards like that...what is the use of having a message board if you're not allowed to give your genuine opinion of something? Smallville has done some great things but lately its become a little stagnant...even the big casting shakeups don't seem like they will do anything much to change how things are going for season eight.

But you mean you don't love Tom Welling? He's the kewlness.

That would be a typical Kryptonsite answer. Well since it's mostly 15 year old girls there would probably be something in there about his appearance or that we're stupid because we actually know there was a Superman story BEFORE Smallville.

That doesn't surprise me...glad I don't frenquent there. Does that mean that we are the only fourm that has intelligent discussion on the show? I know that (take your moniker of Smallville expert) on the Allspark fourm and people there seem to take our view of the show, not as indepth as we do but still.

Though I think a lot of it has to with ignorance. I mean most 15 year old girls haven't exactly experienced great sci-fi/fantasy. Also, the amount of great literary works of art they're exposed to in school isn't what it used to be either. They really don't know any better.

That's true...not to mention they are in that phase where they're crushing on a lot of hot guys! I remember that I was the same when I was fifteen on women...although I still possessed an ability to properly critique a series or movie without going all ga ga over someone.

But you mean you don't love Tom Welling? He's the kewlness.

Tom Welling's exactly the kind of guy I would have crushed on....when I was fifteen and I thought chest hair was nasty. Welling comes across as extremely straight laced and non threatening in any sexual sort of sense. No way you're going to dissuade a teenaged girl's crush. They're too powerful.

Nowadays, of course, I like my men brawny with a sprinkling of that lovely chest hair, and naughty as hell. Dear Clark doesn't make the cut.

All this talk of 15 year old girls is making me feel chilly, I need to find a couple to chuck on the bonfire. What else are they good for?

Extremists need a place to congregate.

I just can't understand how the woman watching TV would be obsessed by some one who is either a hunk of lumber, or is acting like a hunk of lumber. I suppose they just focus on the fact that he's a hunk of something. Those Luthor men are just so dynamic talking circles around the farmboy, that they make Clark look and sound like he took the short rocket to Earth.

I use to look around the Ksite messageboards but all it was was girls swooning over Wellings chest and wanting to hug him at night. Plus there were all these avatars of him making cute faces or eating a hamburger.

It's like all youtube vids of david tennant "OMG!1 DAvid Tennant iz teh sex!"
