NYers: So this is the last year...

just sad that a historic ballpark is going to be lost because of a dick-measuring contest. Yankee Stadium wasn't in bad shape...

Actually, really a shame. With a little creative scheduling, they probably could have worked it in such a way that the Yankees played home games in the new Mets stadium for a portion of the 2009 season. That way, they could have started rennovating Yankee Stadium the day after the season ends in 2008, and by probably halfway through the 2009 season, they could have been finished with major rennovations in Yankee Stadium, and been reopened for business.

Thats the worst idea ever and I`m so happy that it was never an option. We had to endure the Yanks playing games at Shea before and I`m glad they are not gonna spoil Citifield.

As for the Yankee Stadium talks. I don`t see why everybody is all sad that they are tearing down the old girl. The only part of the stadium left from the old days is the field since the stadium went through so many renovations. In fact the new stadium is going to look more like the original stadium then the current one is. Let the kids play on the dirt that Babe Ruth hit home runs runs on while the grown ups play in the house that steriods built.

A new stadium for the Yankees is currently under construction on part of the former site of Macombs Dam Park. The new stadium's design is to incorporate the design of Yankee Stadium from its original 1923 exterior as well as from the 1970s renovation. Straight from wikipedia. FUCK! I swear that wasn't always the plan.
