NX-01 Deck Plans, Version 2.0

^ Actually I thought that myself at first about both the pulse rifle and the MACO phase rifle. Both are to close to the body to be of any use. If you look closely, the scope on the MACO phase rifle is actually a little below the housing making it even harder to get a proper line of site than the pulse rifle.

I hadn't noticed that! At least on the MACO rifle though, the scope is mounted slightly higher than the stock..and more forward too.

But then I got to thinking. What if the scope displayed what it saw on a screen at the back of the scope rather than relying on optics. You wouldn't have to worry about line of site or getting your head down close to the weapon. As long as you were in the vicinity to see the display properly, you were in the clear.

Oh and thanks! :bolian:
Good point (and you're welcome! :) ). Weapon optics by that point should be advanced enough to allow that. The scope isn't simply a telescope...more like a small visual sensor array.

Looking at the shape of the scope on the Class 3 though, it would be impossible to see any such display unless you were looking straight through it, like a conventional scope. The shape of the eyepiece ensures that. :wtf:

After several months of working two jobs and being totally swamped, I finally have some free-time to get back to the remaining schematics of this project. I hate it when "real life" gets in the way of more important things.

Right now I am starting up on basic Starfleet Equipment and I am gathering up images to start. My list consists of the scanner, Vulcan scanner, communicator, comm/translator, clip on translator and the MACO scanner. I am also looking for pictures of Phlox's medical equipment like the medical scanner and the hypospray.

But I was curious. Is there any other pieces of equipment I missed? I am especially curious about medical props. I know Phlox used an autosuture but I am unsure what else to include, if anything. (Animals and critters are not really something I want to add to the medical equipment schematic.)

:alienblush:

Wow.

I can't believe I haven't come across these sooner. Seriously, wow.

That's fantastic. This level of detail is making me feel stupid with my "eh, its close enough" approaching to doing stuff :p

Can't wait to see more. ;)

The latest update…

We have representations of the hand scanner, Vulcan scanner, MACO scanner, communicator, universal translator and the PADD. It took a while to scrounge up enough usable images for some of these. The hand scanner was especially hard. Pictures of that particular prop were all at an angle so extrapolating the width and height was problematic. The least complicated item was the PADD. The Enterprise prop department modified a Cabin Pocket-Vue CL-5000P Pocket Light Box, used to view photographic slides and transparencies, for the prop. I found the exact specifications for the product online. All the other props were visually compared to the PADD prop or the communicator for a size determination. I am very confident that I nailed the sizes correctly though.

And for those wanting to check out schematic at full size, I have added the new-fangled render for the Crew Equipment to the Overview Page. Just clickity-click on the link in my signature for the site.

Baring anymore interruptions, I am starting on a lovely schematic of the Dr. Phlox’s medical equipment post haste. Stay tuned.

Let me know what you think!

Yes! Do you remember Trip's toolbox! The one he cracked open in "Shuttlepod One", I believe? There were some goodies in there.

So, is bandwidth preventing you from being thorough?

That's sad, if so. That's like the Man trying to keep a brother down!

^^^Well it's either that or simply not having enough time to keep the projects going, that is how it is for many here.

^ With this project I have made the time. It has been a huge undertaking, one that I have invested four and half years into. But at the moment, I have reached the point of just wanting it finished. So to that end I am fighting to make time for it amidst my grueling schedule. :bolian:

As for remaining props... let me be completely honest. I don't see the point in doing all off them. None of the tech manuals did so why should I try. Besides, rendering the ones I have was nightmare, even with decent reference images. I don't even want to think about trying to do some of the "one-off" props without adequate reference. If I can't do them justice and with a high amount of accuracy I don't even want to bother. Besides, I really don't have space. The site is gigantic already and costing me a decent amount of change to host every month. Why tax my wallet anymore than it already is. So in conclusion, I have to balance what can be done with what should be done.

I have finished and posted the Medical Equipment Schematic on my website. You know what to do.

I also have a surprise for you. With the exception of Porthos (Did you find him?), I have been limited to drawing the inorganic structures of the ship. But for this schematic I had the privilege of including one of Doctor Phlox’s Sickbay pets, the osmotic eel. I admit it was a thrill painting her skin textures and details. It was a welcome change from the clean straight architectural requirements of a project like this. Be sure to stop by the website and check out the full resolution schematic. It will better show the eel in all her alien glory.

Here is the Medical Equipment Schematic...

As you can see I didn’t include much with this one. Phlox used very few tools in his Sickbay so I rendered what I could locate a decent image for.

Ok. Next on my list are the E/V suits. I plan to do a front and back view of the suit and a schematic of Doug Drexler’s bottle suit. I am very excited about this one. Stay tuned.

Sweet! As an EMT I really enjoy the medical props in Star Trek, especially on Enterprise, I love how on the pilot episode Dr Phlox was actually wearing a stethoscope (even though we never say it again).

^ I wish the producers had allowed Phlox to use a stethoscope beyond the pilot. It looked really nifty and the stethoscope is one of the oldest pieces of medical equipment used today. It would have been a nice homage.

And I also wanted to take a second a thank everyone who has made a post in this thread. There are so few of you but it is nice to know someone is keeping up with the project. :bolian:

Your Welcome and thank you for all the art you do :) :techman:

The props schematics are just pure awesome, as indeed all of your work. But I love the attention to detail and seeing Phlox's stethoscope and equipment in action again is great.

Can't wait for the EV suits. They are among the best designs in all of Trek.

I finally have another update. This time it is the Extravehicular Equipment and I am very proud of this one.

Check it out…
Enterprise_NX-01_EV_Suits_Example.jpg

I love the NX EV suits. I loved them the first minute I saw them onscreen. They looked real and something someone could actually use. I also loved the color and the style. That shade of copper really popped against the greys, blacks and blues of the ship. It has also been a joy to render them. The detailing on the suits is extraordinary and drawing it all out has been so much fun.

But my most cherished part about this schematic is the “bottle suit”. Ever since Doug Drexler posted his sketches for the NX “Bottle Suit” on his blog I have been itching to take a crack at finishing off the design. And now, after more than a year a half, I am finally presenting it to you. The front and side are almost direct copies from Mr. Drexler’s CG renders. The back portion was based on his pencil sketches. I did make a few tiny changes to get everything to work properly though. Hopefully no one will notice. But I have added my own flare to everything, just as I did with the escape pod, and I am very pleased with my results. (Here is Doug’s original post on the subject.)

I have also come up with my own name for the bottle suit, the L.E.R.C suit or Long-term Extravehicular Reinforced Containment Suit. The TNG Technical Manual referred to this type of Extravehicular “container” as an AMP Suit or Augmented Personnel Module. I thought it would be a nice for the 22nd Century to have a unique name for this nifty apparatus. (Just a word to the wise, thinking up an acronym is a lot more difficult than you might think. Do not attempt one unless you really think you need it.)

And next up on my list is the Uniforms and Ranks. After that I will complete the Side Cutaway, which will be my last schematic for the Enterprise Project. I am a little sad thinking about that.

If you would like to see the full size version of the schematic, just click on the link in my signature. It can be found under E Deck.
