Dr. M'Benga. Hell, why didn't we see a young medical intern M'Benga studying on Vulcan on XI?
Using the age of the actor who played him in the Original Series as a guide, M'Benga would have been 18 years old in 2258 and just beginning his course of pre-med study. His internship on Vulcan wouldn't happen yet for several years, and may now (due to the non-existence of Vulcan) take place instead at the University Medical Center of Vulcanis Lunar Colony. (The parents of newborn Tuvok will be his next-door neighbors, and his friendship with them will be an influence in their eventual decision to steer Tuvok toward Starfleet Academy.)
So I've been wondering, much has been established about Tuvok, canonically speaking. We know his race is long-lived, and he was alive in the 23rd century. And since Abrams and his cohorts are saying they'd like to provide various links to the other Trek series, this could be a perfect link to Voyager. Have a scene where a young M'Benga is studying. While he's studying, Tuvok's parents walk by with a little baby Tuvok. You know what would make this scene even better? Have Tuvok's dad denouncing leading zeroes as "illogical and unnecessary." The potential is awe-inspiringly awesome.
Discuss.
Yeah, I decided to change it up a little.
